Remote Central Locking problems

Hey all,

I just installed an OEM remote central locking kit into my 2001 Sedan and the fob only worked a little while only for me to find that it was barely holding together inside. First I thought it needed to be programmed but I realised it wasn't the case since the unlocking button stopped working all together.

So my question is can I use an aftermarket one and program it to the car?
And how do I stop the red alarm light flashing even when the car is on?

It seems like the security system is armed because the red light is flashing and my radio doesn't turn on, but I can still drive the car as normal
