Official too lazy to search, noob friendly thread.

Sound like perhaps you might be low on brake pad material too then, the screeching is often the warning strip that is embedded to most brake pads to let you know its time to get ready to change them.
yeesh ok thank you i better go buy them now

I'm looking to replace the fuel pump in my CE prior to doing a 4G69 swap. What brands do people recommend and do the kits/pumps for evo456 fit?

5 Stud FTO Swapped peeps, What is the go to wheel and tire specs for 15s or 16s?

Id like to down size from 17x8 +35 215/45/17 to something that’ll give me 225 and clear the brakes pls and thanks (looking at RPF1s)

I’m boring, I put some new Outlander rims on mine. 16X5.5 with 205/50R16’s. I mainly got them because they were new in the box.
If you don’t mind OEM rims, then any 5 stud Lancer, Magna, Outlander, ASX wheels will fit.

Too lazy to search:

Are sedan door handles (CE) the same as coupe/mirage (CE)? Think I remember reading they're different, but just want to check. Asking about exterior handles, not interior.

All the same. Front and rear too. Just the fronts have provisions for key locks.

Same as legnums / galants and some pajeros too.

Back again:

Can a tacho cluster for a 4g93 be wired up to a 4g15 without too much issue?
Yes - but the tacho will bounce around. You need to add an extra earth, and wire in the tacho signal wire.

To fix the bouncy needle:
In line with the tacho signal, you will need a noise filter (resistor) of some capacity. Unfortunately can’t recall what size was recommended. If you’ve got an oscilloscope it’s easy to work out, I just havent had a 4g15 car for a long time

2003 CE Mirage Auto 1.5L tacho install journey summary

Purchase correct tacho (#4) by accident. Realise screws are missing. Fill in missing screws with ones from tacho-less old cluster.

Pretty much plug and play as the connectors had all the correct wiring. Oh wait, bouncing needle!! (Til this day I have no clue where the factory tacho signal came from) (white wire, wasn't any white wire on the ECU))

Try correcting grounds/earth together. Doesn't fix issue.

Revert and go for a drive. Cluster guages die. PCB twas cracked. Scraped plastic off over hairline crack and soldered to bridge the crack.

Cluster works again but still got bouncing needle. Need to use a different signal for tacho signal. Between rpm/tacho pin and pin 89 (crankshaft pin). As the tacho pin doesnt have any wires, crankshaft pin it is. Splice into it. Disconnect the original wire.

(PS the method for removing pins/wires from the cluster connector terminals is push with a thin object perpendicular to the pin against the lip in between the wire (see drawing (was found after destroying and cutting factory wire)). Or just cut the white wire and tape off.

Anyways splice into pin 89 to tacho signal worked wonders. Accurate and no bouncing needle! (And I can tune idle accurately now!)

So it seems later year mirages came with heaps of factory wiring for add ons (such as fog lights, power mirrors, tacho (the ground was present and good (obviously I needed to change tacho sig) but YMMV))

Now onto replacing door lock actuactors... (Done!)

Wait, so you didnt need to connect any grounds on the back of the cluster?

I've connected the "earth -" on then back of the dash to "tach earth" run both the white wire from the ecu and the pin 89 and the tach never moves.
I've got cluster #4 as well and our original has #2 on it.

1.8 GLI lancer Sedan manual.

Does this mean that clusters from coupe autos dont work with manuals or have a different signal for the tachometer?

Nup, all the cabling was already part of the connector sans the tacho cable which had the wacky needle issue.

I would advise you get a tacho cluster with a #1 (or was it #3) as the 1.8l and 1.5l aren't interchangeable

Again, too lazy to search:

Anyone running a cusco front strut bar from an evo 4/5/6 on their ce mirage/coupe? Just wondering why the 40mm diameter carbon front strut bar for the evo isn't listed in the mirage section on the cusco website. Pretty sure it'd bolt up no problems, right?

I have no clue regarding your question but! Try emailing Cusco (or giving a call), or forward your message to the shout box for quicker reply

Unless the 3rd firewall mount is different or bonnet clearance issues, I don't see why it wouldnt fit
