Noob need help - Upsizing R13 wheels

Hi,
My 1995 CC Lancer coupe tyres are 175/70/R13.
I need to upsize the wheels as its hard to get decent tyres for this size and I don't know anything about wheels and offset etc.
I don't want to lower the car. I thought maybe 15" if that would fit without adjusting the car in any way besides recalibrating the speedo.
Would that size be too big and could rub against the sides etc?
Is CC a four stud rims?
Also, what profile would be best for 15" without adjustment?
Is OEM wheels better than aftermarket? And if so, what Mitsubishi models wheels would fit the CC?
I've tried reading the old threads and must admit I'm absolutely confused as hell.
Please help.

Get rid of those tiny wheels and fit something bigger. 15/16s are ideal
Ive had 19s on my cc coupe without issues

Below are some wheels that may interest you and wont cost an arm and a leg

You need 4x100 pcd wheels. Something along the lines of 15x6 up to 17x8. The bigger you go, the more expensive the tyres.
Most wheels from Honda, Mitsubishi, Toyota and Mazda will fit. The way to measure if they are 4x100 is to measure from the centre of one wheel nut/stud across the face of the wheel to the opposite wheel nut/stud. It's measured in mm so 100mm across the face of the wheel and 4 studs/nuts means they are a 4x100 wheel.
If you get the right size tyre you don't need to adjust the speedo at all. On a 15" wheel a 195/50/15 is prime. On 16" it's 205 or 195/45/16 and on 17" 205/40/17. The first number depends on how wide the rims are. Second number is how high the sidewall of the tyre is. Third is the size of the rim the tyre fits.

OEM isn't better than other brands, just depends what kind of style you want. Reputable brands that don't cost a small fortune are Koya, Rota, Enkei, Lenso, Advanti and heaps more.

Just search on gumtree for things like "4 stud wheel" or "4x100 wheel" and have a browse. Change key words like wheels to mags, rims, etc. 4 stud, 4x100, 15" wheel, 16" wheel. People list them under many dofferent names.

Also buying brand new rims from Bob Jane or similar is like pissing in the wind. Crap choice. Expensive. Heavy. Would cost you 500+ for just rims whereas you can find sets of rims and tyres on gumtree and similar sites for 400 or less.

I've just checked and the wheels are 4x100.
Don't I have to worry about offset? What does the offset affect? How do I find out what mine is? All I know is its a 1995 CC Lancer GL coupe 175/70/R13.
>> rigby, I'm hoping for an OEM Mitsubishi secondhand so I could just do a straight fit. Also, why is 195/50/15 considered prime? Is it the fitting or drivability?
Do anyone know whether what models would do just that for 15"?
If not, I'll have to go aftermarket as rigby suggest.
>> EVL20T, I love those CG VRX Lancer Oz Racing wheels 4x100 15". Are they stock? Will they fit? Where could I find them?
Also, is Kumho KU31 still a recommended tyres or is there something else?
Thanks for being patience with me while I ask stupid questions. :)

Stock offset will be like +40. So anything between +30 and 40 is fine. All stock Mitsu rims are between that anyway.
CG vrx rims are pretty rare since they were only manufactured for 12 months. You can run stock MX5 wheels, most older Corollas, I know Suzuki Swift rims also fit and come as 15s from factory.
KU31 were replaced with something else if I remember correctly. Don't know with what but anything around the $100/tyre mark will be roughly equivalent to it.
195/50/15 isbgood because you retain your rolling diameter, won't throw your speed out. And easy to find tyres in that size.

It's really just about googling small japanese cars and seeing what stock rims they had and what size. Except Nissans and Hyundais, their 4x100 have a different centre bore size and won't fit.

I had been looking for months, just found some the other day for $275, good tyres and a decent style
I was on Gumtree searching 4x100

Thank you so much guys, especially rigby for your help and advises.
Just wondering what brand & make tyres would you recommend that would drive well in wet & dry & last a bit with less road noise?

You won't be able to use those tyres, they're track tyres and are probably a soft compound which wears quickly.
The rust is just surface rust from the rotors. Totally normal, nothing to worry about.

15x6.5 means 15 inches high and 6.5 inches wide. ET38 is the offset.
Yes they'd fit.

Hi rigby,
Yeah, I gathered I would need to buy need tyres for them. I was mainly wondering about the rims.
Is it worth buying the rims if they were used for track? Or should I keep looking? Not really in a hurry. I need them for just everyday use.
What brand & model tyres would you recommend?

Track rims are fine but for 400 you can find rims with near new tyres. Bought my last 3 sets of 17s with near new tyres for 550, 400 and 350.

Depends how you drive. If you like to drive hard maybe some Nittos which are like 200 a tyre. If you want some insane grip for cheap I'd get Bridgestone MY02. Otherwise just budget tyres are fine.

No worries. I have new 17s but dunno what tyres they are. Haven't been able to make them lose traction around corners in the dry yet but in the wet they are a bit lack luster.

I'll try remember the name

Thanks again rigby.
Just wondering, is your 17s sitting on a CC Lancer?
Its just that besides the 15s ad I found, there's no other there. I've rang wreckers and they told me 15s are hard to find so I may have to find bigger sizes as there's more of a range there.

Yeah my CC rolls on 17s. 17x7 +38 I think they are. 205/40/17 tyres.

I have a spare set but 2 are buckled and need some repairs but the tyres are good. I'd say you should buy them but the shipping and repairs would probably end up at around 500 before you got them on the car. I'm only chasing 80 for all 4 so if that's an option for you then yeah.

You can comfortably run up to 17x8 +30 but most out there will be 17x7.

Thanks rigby but I'll pass on buying due to shipping. Wish you're here in Perth.
Do you know anyone in Perth that I could get either 15s or 16s or even 17s 4x100 for a decent price? WA sucks for price. Had a look for 15s, 16s & 17s aust wide and can't believe how many and how cheap the ones in eastern states are. Even had Advanti 16s with decent tyres at great price. :(

Hi,
Rigby suggested 195/50R15. What type of wheels are they? Are they stock model and if so, what make?
>> rigby, are these too wide to be comfortable for the CC?

Gumtree and ebay are your best bets. You can also join JDM and sales pages on facebook. There's literally a new item for sale every 5 minutes.
