hey,
went to get a key cut on my new lancer.
locksmith quoted me $115 for one key.
told me it had an immobiliser chip in it.
but when i went to update my insurance details, an immobiliser wasnt in the stock parts list.
its a 1997 mr, anyone know what year immobilisers came stock?
think imma just get a normal key cut up for $10 anyways, and test.

ummm unsure but $115 thats a rip, i know my 2002 ce has the immobiliser and it cost me %99 for a new one from mitsubishi and they sould of been the most expensive place i have found
 
i was quoted around the same for a key cut too, there not cheap, cause of the immobiliser
i think it was 98 mr lancer that came with stock immobiliser thingo but no beep beeper, i got a normal one cut (wont start my car) justincase i locked my keys in my car, its happened a few times to me.
then the cars after that came with the beep beep thing too
 
yep 97 models come with an immobiliser stock, key has a transponder in it., But $115 is still very steep.
 
i got qouted that too got a $7 key cut & it started my car & evrything & mine was a 97 model
 
with mine a non immobiliser key just keeps kicking the engine, but it wont kick it over
kinda lame i reckon, i suppose when i lose the key i will jack wire it when ever i need to start it ;)
 
well, f**k knows then, if they had them handy in the warehouse they chucked them in... if they didn't well you miss out
