Fitting CE Coupe Front Bumper

Hey guys,

Are there any diagrams of how the front bar fits?

I know it is primarily supported by the reo bar but what other bolts are there?
What keeps the bottom part of the bar from deforming at speed?
Are the inner mudguard plastics there for support or do they have any brackets in them?
Are there any underside plastics to the front bar like most other (newer?) cars have?

Apparently there was a front splash tray, but ive never seen one.

Reo bar goes across around the front in the middle of the bar. The ends (approx where the headlights are) of the reo has two vertical metal straps that help keep the ends stiff under speed, and the bar itself is designed functionally as bar of it acts like gussets. These vertical straps are very near to the reo where it inserts in the chassis. Bar attaches to the reo with about 20 bolts.
The guardliners are very thin, and dont support the bar, and they themselves have about 8-10 button screw things to the bar/chassis.

My new ce1 style bar has supports on the bottom of the bar that clip to the underside or the chassis (insert pics tomorrow)

OH, and yeah the bar rests on the front of the car too, the lower rad support thingy

I have the original reo bar, it basically goes into the chassis rails and extends from one headlight to another.
I know that 4 long bolts go from underneath the car into the chassis rails to support this.
Also there is a bolt each side that connects the upper 2 end most corners to where the front guards meet the bar.

Donki when you say vertical straps do you mean they go from the reo bar down towards the bottom section of the front bar?

I have a stock front bar but it is missing a few of the lower tabs from what I can tell - I assume these either connect to the undertray (which I believe the Aus delivered cars did not receive) and/or somewhere on the rad support bar at the bottom

Correct, i can only remember them on my current bar, they may have been on my CE2 bar as well, but i dont remember. They metal ones, same make up as the reo bar, but follow the bar down and connect up (the same way the reo connects,) sort of where the lip is.

I don't have those on my reo bar...
Not sure if these were never there (being a CE2) or whether they were removed when the aftermarket bodykit was fitted.

I'm also missing all the bolts so I'll need to go to a self serve wrecker and get them + see how the stock bars are fitted

quick Q. Ive seen a vrx kit on the wreckers, planning to attack it when I get home! how is the side skirts / front lip attached to the front bar? or do I need to remove the whole front bar?

My brand new bar with all the clips/mount attached... hopefully it gives you a rough idea

Is that a brand new aftermarket one?
I've seen aftermarket ones available for the Lancer but I am just not sure what the fitment would be like... anything less than perfect would be unacceptable really

Brand new genuine Mitsubishi MR bar

I think butchering a brand new MR front bar is cause for instaban.
It's blasphemy around here

I think it is only you Spetz that demands this kind of perfection. I applaud your efforts but however will decree, you can make most brand new again

Also to add had a look at my ce3 bar and has a support off the reo going to the bottom of the bar
