Exhaust System

Hey,

Im wanting to put a new cat back system on my 2010 Ralliart. Not overly fussed about performance improvements but would like a better sound. My current issue is I live in Adelaide and I other than your regular exhaust modification places I dont know where to go (most places i've read about on here are in Syd or Melb). I dont want a cheap *poo*ty one put on their but being a girl i'm pretty sure thats what i'll get as I really dont know what to ask for. Ive been quoted $400 and i'm not sure what sort of quality i'll be getting for that??
Any help, suggetsions or recommendations of where to go - I also dont want to pay through the teeth for it... Help! :/

If you just want a better sound, I'd personally just be looking at upgrading the muffler/mufflers to a higher flowing muffler. I wouldn't be paying more then $200 for the muffler and installation. for $400 you'd most likely be getting a mild steel and possibly press bent system, which is on the lower end of quality. But $400 is reasonable and a few guys around here have paid close to that I believe. Since you have a RA though, I'd be looking at a Turbo-Back exhaust which will improve performance, and shouldn't be that much more expensive then a catback.
In regards to where to go, have a shop around, google "exhaust shops" and go visit 3 or 4 in your area to get a rough estimate on price... I stumbled upon my gem of an exhaust shop by just walking in for a quote.

You can get stainless steel, mild steel and other materials like titanium(uber expensive) and you usually get press or mandrel bent. Mandrel being the better flowing of the two. You can also get lobster style which is welded corners, but this adds cost.

How did you go with it? TurboXS had a solid design in this area, CP-E also offered some good stuff but it may be overly loud so it may be worth getting the resonators with it.

I haven't done anything as yet; been sorting out new rims :p I had a guy from one exhaust place chasing up a full turbo back system for me but the only places that do them atm are ridiculously priced... apparently xforce will be bringing one out in the next few months as they're now up to that model.
I have a mate who reckons that as i'm really only after sound I just modify the muffler and tips. We're thinking a 'y' piece for the split then two separate mufflers and new tips. Its much more cost effective for the outcome im after.
My problem is that im in Adelaide so stuff gets really expensive by the time I ship it here... I will google TurboXS and CP-E as i'm not familiar with them. I dont want something try-hard loud though so wouldnt been keen for it without resonators.
Nice RalliArt BTW! :) Love the colour!

Cheers, I've learnt a good exhaust perform good and sounds even better :) When I decide to do the rest of it I'll be getting one of the above two brands because it has a decent sound down low but when your boosting it sounds like a proper evo :) Not some fart cannon rubbish or droning pos.

I would go for one of the pre/mass-made exhaust setups as atleast you then know what you are getting and there are no surprises of ending up with some *poo* exhaust if you get the shop around the corner to do a DIY setup...

Also with the X-force wait until people buy it and start giving feedback. The first version they did for the VE Commodores was apparently junk!

Just looked at the turbo XS system on line and it sounds great but way too expensive... I've found cheaper ones than that through places like TMR.
