CE Lancer Evo bonnet conversion?

im interested in this thread. cause im contemplating on a evo bonnet for mine. wat happened to Dione's bonnet? or whatever?

the best idea is to buy a fibrelass copy and use pins but pins are illegal as well.without bonnet pins the bonnet doesnt sit right and might fly up when driving.

you can buy the evo vent and mould it but get someone experienced to do it.i had a complete fibreglass bonnet moulded to a oem bonnet and havent had any problems.the only issue is it weights twice as much now.cost $1000 as well

say waht now , the bonnet doesnt sit right + will fly open with the stock locking machenism?>....anyone got an evo bonnet with this kinda behaviour....is this your experience with it or just a rumor?

im saying it might open up whilst driving.my old bonnet would flap up and down when driving above 70kmh.it never opened up on me but because it was poorly fit and weighed bugger all the chance of it happening was pretty high.

you can buy flush mounted bonnet pins which should be adr approved.that would solve your problem ;)

hmmmm ....i kinda still want the bonnet -_- and im sure a good fitment would solve thoes problems with it moving aroung n stuff -_-

Dion had a carbon fibre T2 bonnet which flew up and smashed his windscreen at 40km/hr.
The standard bonnet was put back on just before his hot4's photoshoot.

i have had the evo 6 fibre glass bonnet on for about 3 or 4 years now, it sits fine, never flown up and smashed my windscrean (touch wood) don't use pins just normal locking system and no trouble from cops even when they opened it.

Dion's bonnet was perfect as well till that happened (smashed windscreen) Just unlucky I guess.

do you know where he got it from? *Crossing my fingers hoping its not same place as me*

I guess its a ease of mind thing really but you will find most places that sell fibre or CF recommend pins or sell them aswell.

i just want to add that i've had my fg evo bonnet for over 8 years now and driven 80000km in that time and its never flown up - no bonnet pins. i'll also add i've have the lancer over 220kph before. so really, it just depends on how well your bonnet is made.

You can also use a small braided cable underneath the bonnet as a second mechanism for keeping it down if your worried about it flying open:

lol, good thinkin react, i never even thought about usin a cable as a secondary

i would think that at speed if the bonnet flew up and the cable tried to stop it, that the fibre glass would just shatter under force.
