Hi everyone
I have had a 2004 CH lancer since august. I played around with the intake system as I installed a pod filter into my factory air box, and soon after this I started experiencing problems with the engine struggling under load, there was very little power going to the engine. So I took it to my mechanic, he thought it was a blocked catcon, so he sent me to the exhaust shop who check out the catcon and it was flawless. They suggest it could be the coil packs and send me to this other mechanic who runs diagnostics and finds that the air sensor isn't detecting any air flowing into the engine, therefore isn't injecting enough fuel resulting in the fuel mix running too lean. He quoted me about $450 to fix this, to which I said no...
A few days later, having had problems with my car guzzling up fuel because I was having to rev so much to get the car to move, I put unleaded 98 in hoping it would last a bit longer. The next day the problem stopped completely, I have no idea why but I have a feeling it had something to do with the higher octane rating fuel...
Anyway I've been running the car on unleaded 98 since then with no problems, but suddenly the car is starting to have the same problem after disconnecting and reconnecting the battery... Has anyone else had this sort of thing? And any suggestions on what to do about it?
