Haha, yeah. :) My bad.

Are they both yours? They're very nice. :D You guys are giving me so much inspiration & motivation. lol

Theres a MASSIVE difference between GL and GLXi, the GL is crap!!

It has a carberator engine which means if you want to turbocharge it or throw an EFI engine in it you will need to replace ALL the wiring looms and fuel tank

The GL also uses a weak cable clutch gearbox while the GLXi uses the hydaulic clutch

The GL has flat door trips, the GLXi has pockets and all

The GL inbuilt headrests in the front seats, the GLXi seats have seperate head rests and the rear seats have head rests too, also the GLXi rear seats are more buckety and the rear part is split fold (seats fold forward so you can throw stuff in the boot from inside) the GL doesnt fold down and are flatter

The wiper stalk is also different, the GL has slow, med and fast, the GLXi has intermediant, slow, med and fast

The GLXi has a tacho on the cluster while the GL does not

The GLXi came with cup holders underneath the stereo

Some model GL's dont have a petrol cap or boot release, all GLXi's came with them

Some G'Ls didnt come with power mirrors, all GLXi's came with them

Some GL's didnt have colour coded body panels such as door handles and bars, all GLXi's did

There is more, just abit late to think about them lol

The purple 1 is still mine, the pink 1 was mine and my ex's but she got it when we split up, my mate bought it off her now and is for sale

this is how it looks like now

Eh, oh well. I don't really have the money to do much with the motor at the moment anyway. When I do though, I don't mind if I have to even swap the whole thing out for a different one.

How much did you pay out of curiosity??

BEST base model to play with is CC GLXi, but if you can find a Proton M21 you will be laughing, the pink coupe (blue/silver) is a Proton M21, they have all power options, recaro bucket seats, rear disc brakes, bigger front brakes, stronger gearbox and a powerful 1.8 DOHC engine :)

I bought the old pink 1 for 3k back in 2006 when it was completly stock and greeeeeen

Here is a week after we bought it, went and got 19s the next day and air bag suspension in a week

Do what you need on your car, then when the time comes for more power, buy a GLXI. Then swap all your stuff onto the GLXI, swap all the GLXI into the GL, and sell the GL. Less hassle in terms of engine swaps and all that, plus it will come with 4573487348 goodies. But you'd just have to make sure that your mods are removable so that it can be easily swapped later on. Like if you got a bodykit, make sure it's bolted on instead of sikaflex'd on. Could still use sikaflex but it would just be a *mum* to get off. My veilside's had sikaflex all over them when I bought em... pain in the ass.

Or just buy an M21 and swap everything into that instead?

I'm sure there's a GLi model too? Was probably only for the sedans...

GLis only came in the wagon
Coupe GL/GLXi
Sedan GL/GLXi/SEi/Exective/GSR
Wagon ELi/GLi/Executive

I payed 1k. No idea if that's good or bad haha. It's all I really wanted to spend on my first car.

Post up pics, 1k is about the goin rate for a stock GL, no mods and in fair condition these days, a good condition stock GL is worth around 2k

Good idea I guess. :p It's not like I need heaps of power right now anyway.. If I had my full license I would though, haha.

I will tomorrow. :D I'll take some good pictures of it.

My brothers coupe (blue 1 in the vid u posted) actually started off as a GL 1.5 carby, he spent over 10k to convert it to EFI turbo back in 2000, he only payed 2 or 3k for the car back then aswell lol
