Budget muffler ideas

Hi all, I've got a 2007 es lancer velocity (2.4l) and was considering the idea of making it sound better. I liked the idea of an axle back exhaust due to its easier install of just bolting on but could not find any that are made for CH lancers.

I have looked into just buying a muffler and welding or bolting it on with exhaust clamps from there but would rather an easier option.

I was wondering if there was any other versions of lancers that would have more available axle back or cat back exhausts that will fit my car or possibly some other ideas?

Would take suggestions for mufflers if that's my only option (preferably on the cheap side)

Thank you!

Nothing will bolt up unfortunately so a trip to an exhaust shop is probably in your future. Unless you find an already modded one at the wreckers.

Pending your budget, a catback is the best middle ground if power/sound/price. Probably looking at 500 or so for mild steel. Double for stainless.

Ask a local well-rated exhaust shop about the 3 options and choose whichever suits your budget:

1. Muffler. All sound, no change to power, cheapest
2. Axle-back. Mostly sound. Negligible power change (like 2hp at most). Couple hundred.
3. Cat-back. Almost same sound as axle-back. Mild power inscrease (likely 2-5hp at most). Couple hundred more than axle-back. Catback is the route to go if you plan on going turbo later.

For more than a muffler, 2.5" piping would be best if you plan on turbo etc. 2.25" otherwise. The shop will provide a brand muffler probably lukey, hurricane, etc) and you can ask for whatever style tip you want on the end of it

If you're just after sound can recommend just going to an exhaust shop. They'll cut the old muffler off and have a new exhaust welded up in a couple hours tops plus it's relatively inexpensive. Going full bogan I had a Commodore straight piped that way it only took them like half an hour and they only charged me like $100. You'll probably not want to be a complete **** head like me and get a little hot dog muffler or something but yeah 100% the easiest way to get it done if there's no bolt on kits
