Alternator problem?

I did a quick search and couldn't really find anything directly relating to this problem.
Basically car starts and runs fine, but on start up the lights are really dim. As soon as I hit the acclerator the lights brighten up and all is good. It did have a squeaky fan belt that we've tightened up but it still makes a fair bit of noise while running.
I know the problem isn't the battery because it was only replaced a few weeks ago

Just wondering if anyone has/heard of similar problem and what the most likely cause and fix might be?

Cheers :)

its normal man, it just means the alternator is running at idle/slow, and when u rev it up the alternator runs faster giving more power

also if you are starting your car with any lights on that could be causing the initial problem as its best to start the car with no no lights on so the battery can power the starter motor as best as it can

Just to confirm; when you turn the lights on at idle, they are dim until you give the car a rev, then they brighten up and stay a bit brighter?
& during this time the belt is still making some noise?

Assuming that it is a V-belt being? (being in the ca-cc section).
Replace the belt. If it has been used for any length of time with it slipping, the sides of the belt will be damaged.
V-belts aren't very expensive either ~$10 ?
