93 Coupe Air Vents

Just a question about the air vent on the passengers side of my Lancer, how easy is it to replace?

The controller that opens/closes the vent is broken and I'm not sure if there are screws to remove it or it can be pulled out and how?

There is a screw behind the unit, u will need to remove the glovebox and reach behind there with a stubby X screwdriver

Or just pull it out and don't worry about the screw, that's what I did, it sits snuggly in there just like the drivers side vent

I felt one screw behind there, near the bottom to the outside of the car (hard to reach) but wasn't sure if it held the vent in.

As you know it's very hard to get to and I thought I felt a 2nd one at the top but could not get a screwdriver on it.

What happens if it's pulled out without removing the screw? I don't want to break it further.

I have a Haynes manual for my car and it appears you have to remove the dash to get the vent out, I don't want to do that if I don't have to.

U wont break it, if anything it will put a small rip in the soft plastic part of the vent where the screws is...

Ripping = Tear or pull (something) quickly or forcibly away from something or someone... "you ripped my dash"

Breaking = Separate or cause to separate into pieces as a result of a blow, shock, or strain... "You broke my dash"

Lets try a different scenery,

The rear button on your jeans have ripped my new retrimmed Recaro seats....

or would you say

he is right .. id rather rip/tear a mounting point for a vent then break it off completely, atleast if you tear it, you can fix it with a bracket or something, if you break it then ur screwed haha.

Thing is if u rip the mounting point, the vent still sits in there perfectly
