Hey guys I'm trying to do the 1.5 to 1.8 swap on a mirage 99 and I was wondering if I could use a 4g92 short block on my 4g93 Block? Is just that if I'm going to do a swap I wanto to go DOHC on mi carr. And if it cant be done, which DOHC short block can I use with that engine (4g93)?

The 4g93 came in a dohc... so there will be a head available from GSR turbo engines as well as other dohc 4g93s....

welcome.
+1 too above. RPW sell the DOHC conversion kits.
Unless you planning on turboing it later, your not going to get much out of a DOHC, in fact i think you lose a bit of low end power

4g92 is DOHC but only 1.6l. why not a 4g94? 2l goodness and still a very basic swap

I'm going out on a limb here and i think u are trying to put the 4g92 mivec 1.6 head on a 4g93 1.8 sohc bottom end yes?

If so im sure its a direct swap with a few minor issues with the getting the correct timing belt....

google search will help with a bit more about this

Also the 92 dohc has way more power than a 94 but has less torque but the 92 rev to 9k stock and make a *poo* load of power....

cost wise, the 94 is the cheaper option. the 92 you may have trouble finding parts ect.....

all depends how you wanna do it

and you can still DOHC the 4G94... maybe even the mivec 4g69?

92 dohc - 108kwatfw @7,000rpm
92 mivec dohc - 128kwatfw @ 7,000rpm
93 GDI dohc
94 sohc - 92kwatfw @ 5,500rpm
94 GDI dohc - 107kwatfw @ 5,700rpm (note: direct injection not multi-point)
69 mivec sohc - 119kwatfw @ 5,7500rpm

94 can do DOHC but not sure on 69

if u go 69, then u go evo head to go dohc

@whoever started this thread, stick sohc and build power on ur 93, then if u get into cams or T and really need to refine your valve timing THEN go for the DOHC
there are alot better cheaper routes to power, altho it does make for a good base going DOHC

if u wnat to go mivec, get a 6a12 (2.0L v6) they are mivec and will rape the tits off most else on the NA of things at 150kws stock
4g92's are fair hard to find these days, better going 6a12, easier to find (slightly) and most likely cheaper

Hey I want to tank everyone who posted, is just that I'm new at all fo this and here in Puerto Rico you dont find alot of 4g93 DOHC for my block, and since I have the SOHC version I wanted to save some money. My goal si to go DOHC, but like I said is almost imposible to find the DOHC version of the 93 exept for the evo and it cost A LOT!!! the only place where I saw that is easy to find is in Australia and the E.U. Anyway thanks for the tips and if any of you got any other advice, it will be very welcome to me!

P.S. Sorry for the broken english

you would be the first from the carribbean. Is it expensive now to ship a head from here to you?
You english is good, i never noticed and broken.
