Hey, im new to this site as ive just bought a 2005 lancer vr-x. ive got my eyes on a set of new rims, they are 18x8 inch with an offset of +40. just wondering if these would fit and if id have to roll the guards or not? please help. muchly appreciated

Hey mate :)

Welcome! Although I don't know anything on this topic myself you can try the search function on the top right or alternatively sift through the Wheel and Tyre thread.

Happy hunting :)

It depends on the height of the car, but really its best to avoid big a$$ rims, tyres become costly, ride comfort and handling significantly become worse, not too mention a noticeable decrease in acceleration due to the added rotational mass of the rims

Thanks heaps, I'm thinking about going with some 17's. I'd like to see some photos of some 17's on some ch models if anyone could post them on here for me :) that would be appreciated. Cheers

I think you might get some scrubbing issues, I had 17x7 +38's on my CG and they were about as close to the guards as I could get without rolling. Particular tyres would also scrub with that setup. CH will have the same fitment. It's possible you could fit them with some camber, but I think you're gonna need your guards rolled either way to fit x8's in there

17x7s is probably a good option, I wouldn't go for 18s as the ride will be crap, they wont handle well and will be easily damaged. 17s are a better compromise on a CH, plus as others said tyres are cheaper.... Much alike I wouldn't go for anything larger than 18s on a CJ...
