Hi guys,

im new to the lancer scene, but not to mitsubishi. i used to own a magna before but am downgrading to a 4 cylinder car. I've set my mind to a ce lancer, possibly around a 2000 model. But i dont know what type i should be looking for lol. because i saw some that are gli and some that are vrx and stuff but i couldnt tell them apart. could anyone please tell the the difference.

also im thinking of getting the coupe version.

Many thanks

best to get an MR, which has your power windows, power mirrors, nicer interior etc and a 1.8L motor and central locking

gli = 1.5l motor with no power anything

manual if you know how to drive it, and a lancer mr is the model you want.. most go for $4-$7K these days so very affordable!

power windows, mirrors, black dash/console etc, cool pattern seats/trims and comfier, also cup holders.

thanks for the reply, yea i definately want power windows, but i was just wondering, was it only the 2003 mr lancers which have the power windows, i saw a pic of a 2002 mr lancer and it had manual winding windows so i was unsure.

welcome to Auslancer, BTW. Definitely you want a 1.8ltr, and if it comes with more goodies, all the better!

Happy hunting.

the 2002 commonwealth games edition 1.8l ce coupes also have power windows, mirrors and nice interior, just no cup holders. i know this coz me car in my avatar that i used to own was a commonwealth games edition :p.. some of those also have leather seats but rare to find i think

cheers heaps looks like im gonna save a bit more and go for the mr version

thanks heaps everyone :)

manual boxes will cope with turboing... I would say autos will not, as well...

I have a CVT auto, in a CJ lancer... awesome (because I added flappy paddles), but wont take serious power through the box..

Depends what you plan to do with it...

yea im gonna go with the manual version because im planning on having it well after i come off my p's :).

glad to help, cant wait to see what you get!

Commonwealth, just slower than an Olympic?!
lol. dunno, but always seems to be commonwealth and olympic versions of cars :p

I would think when buying any used car the best bet would be get a mechanic to check it out. As there will usually be some money needing to be spent, so best to know what, before handing over cash.

i think its best to always invest in a premium racv check when buying a car.

theres normal where they just do what they can by looking at the car on the street

then theres premium where its taken to a shop and on a hoist! <--- do this if you can.. might set you back $2-300 but well worth it

commonwealth games ftw!! mine has leather seats :p haha

the only things these dont have that MR's do are:
-cupholders :(
-foglights :(
-adjustable windscreen wiper speed
-height adjustable drivers seat
-centre console lid
-fold down back seats
-the MR bodykit

sounds a bit but theres a billion things that a gli doesnt have so you HAVE to get the MR, or maybe commonwealth games (cuz its limited edition hehe) or you'll regret it a lot later.
