Strut Braces/Sway Bars

well one my ce sedan,

i noticed a lot of difference with the rear swaybar and the front strut bar.

not so much with the rear strut bar. front swaybar was factory

mate, I have both front and rear tower struts, undercar 4-point front and twin 2-point rears and two lateral braces... they work.

My bog stock ES had severe body roll and wandered badly (even as a new car). Now, with those bars and heavier sways and lowering, my car is as tight as a drum!

I like them, but the down side can be that you can reduce feeling (when your car tells you what is happening when driving hard) in your vehicle. You just have to get used to it.

Can be sourced cheaply, all of mine came out to about $1200.

okayy thanks guys :) i think im going to get the front and rear struts as there cheap as - $120 shipped for both. bigger sway bar will have to wait untill i get paid..

To be honest I would either get Whiteline (or Ultimate Racing) ones or don't bother. Half of the eBay crap probably isn't strong enough to do anything other than look pretty...

Really though you should seriously think about getting coilovers, then worry about bracing. Any gains bracing will make for a car with bog stock suspension will be minimal compared to the gain that coilovers will give you....

To be fair to the statement above, mine are all Ultimate Racing bars. They're steel, not aluminium... but the upside is that they are a lot stiffer than the rubbishy stuff on eBay.

Yes, coilovers WILL give you a lot of performance gain, over and above stock suspension and bars. I have slightly improved (over OEM) King springs and Whiteline 26mm sways.

I am not going the coilover route until they have achieved a blanket approval (ADR-compliancing) in QLD, which they have not. So most police might defect you, unless you have your car engineered and plated. When there are ADR-approved coilovers (that is universally known to all police here in QLD), I will be on them like a fat-kid on a cupcake!

coilovers = the best

but braces are quite good, think i bought my braces similar pack from the same ebayz ppl
they are great, look real nice and are stiff as, obviously these are like entry level bars, they do a pretty good job for the price, but if ur really keen on stiffness, get some ultra racing braces (the white ones)

i found that the braces do a fair bit, especially if you have swaybars front and rear, best way to describe the feel i got from them is that they amplify the swaybars power to stop body roll x2
u will find that the front strutbrace doesnt do all that much tho, the rear on the other hand does so much in combination with the rear swaybar, makes the rear suspension feel like its rock solid around corners

they are well worth it if u can find them that cheap

then get yo-self some coils

okayy well thanks guys im mainly getting them because there cheap.. will look into ultimate racing or whiteline once i get home.
and i do plan on getting coilovers or shocks and springs later on, i just wanna start off with the cheap mods first as i only earn around $120 per week atm..

braces are quite good, stiff as

This comment is refferring to having none at all. But if you had white line or ultra racing then switched to these (which you wouldn't) then they wouldn't feel all that stiff.

just checked out whiteline.. the strut bars look exactly the same as the ones i posted earlyer.. and ultra racing dont have any listed for the ch lancer only ce and cj :s

as far as i kno the only difference between the ones ur buying and whiteline is that whiteline have a brand name sticker on them :p
the ebay bars are probably just copies of the whiteline ones anyway

well my $100 set from ebay (similar to those ones) they look nice and worked quite well, i got a front and rear pack also
i cant complain for the price i payed

copies = hollow and low strength steel hence cheaper.

White line/Ultra = solid steel high strength no flex steel

yeh thats probably tru, ultra are the only good ones i woud go for if i wanted the best strength
i have seen a few test videos of ultra vs. other companies including whiteline and they all started to flex way earlier than the ultra braces under the same pressure
(on some special wizz bang machine that simulates 2 strut towers being pushed together at high pressure to test strutbraces)

but for road use the ebay ones are good for the price, whereas if ur building a track car u'd definitly go with stronger units liek ultra or ultimate (the solid 1 peice braces)

I didn't find the UR bars all that expensive, when you buy them from O/S direct....
