Starting problem! (Injectors would not pulse)

Alright Mr wreck I had was running fine.

Engine/ box/ loom in and out /key and its header and crap is in my blue lancer now but having problems.

No1. the immboliser would this allow you to crank the car over at all? or let it spark? as mine sparks.
No2 anyone have a 1.8 lancer or MR inwhich I could plug my ecu into it and see if it cranks over or not.


Problem engine will crank over but injectors are not pulsing. We can make them pulse or purge once then engine will crank until fuel is gone.

We've spent last 3 days trying to rectify a couple of problems now we are done to this last one. It all should work as it did before we did the change.

Thinking maybe something with ecu? which tells the injectors to pulse.. Everything has power when needed etc.


My ecu is MD360479. It does show power in plug which goes into the ecu for the injectors aswell but you cant here them tick over its only when we make them.Seems to be a fuel problem

What makes a injector pulse or work.

When we run a earth to the injector it clicks and pumps fuel. There is two wires a yellow/red which has battery voltage all time and the other wire goes into ecu.

So ecu makes the injector pulse? by a earth or something in telling it too?..


This car should of been running in a 1 day it was working fine swapped everything with it and isnt working now. Fuel relay works as does the fuel pump

The first few times starting the car we tried to start with my old key and header etc. Back then car wasnt starting as a power wire was chopped which has been fixed.

Anyway I swapped all this gear over to the MR wreck stuff could this be the problem the ecu doesnt recognise the orignal key anymore??
not allowing the injectors too pump fuel.

was thinkin dirty injectors but you say it was runnin a few days ago. havnt you got more than one lancer there you could use an ecu from? would it need to be a MR ecu to try it?

Not sure John I've got the turbo ecu which would be similar but dont wanna use it just incase.

U may have to get the key recoded. If u or Ur old man know anyone at a mits workshop with a mut 2 that would be good....

We did a diagnostics test got code 54. Googled it come up about something about immobiliser.

immobiliser stops your injectors from pulsing, didn't you say you got them to pulse?
Faulty ECU will stop the spark

We can make them pulse or squirt fuel once by earthing them out. Thanks dude so guess we did something to immobiliser.

So I guess the immob suits individual ecu maybe.? If I get a whole new key, key header n immobiliser it might not work like it did originally .

Alright answering this for someone else that may come along so they dont spend a week f'ing around.


For reference fuel pump clicked over etc and we realised injectors would not pulse - I've put key on accessories for a hour as you read for holden cars etc they can do this. then turn off for 5 mins then it started. I havent tryed less time I did read on google 45min being quoted and just starting straight away

yay for me!! So least it runs wether or not its fixed for good i'm unsure or i have to do this every time I start it till fixing the issue. Car does start and can be turned off then started again just wether or not it will start tomorrow morning time will tell.

Issue that caused this for me was I converted the interior wiring all over including the immobliser to MR stuff but attempted to start it with my original key and head using the MR immobilser. So i assume its confused it and after 3 attempts shut it down.

Thanks for those trying to help. I did mention to my old man about giving this go about a week ago but didnt think it would help.

Hey? whats that air cleaner element doing sitting out in wonder land ? i would be putting a shroud around this paper mate as all thats needed is a rock to piece the element and say no more. cheers
