HI ive just bought a LX my14 manual and noticed a high pitched squeal. happens most of the time mainly when ever i reverse and am letting my foot off the clutch only. Starting to happen more frequently usually when im about to take off or reverse.
Is this normal? has anyone else had the same issue?mitsubishi said they have a bulletin dated over a yr ago stating they are aware of this and its due to noisy brake pads.?

Ive got it booked in with the dealer tomorrow to get the rotars skimmed and pads replaced, does anyone know if the pads they use are cheap nasty ones or not? Ive been told to try a diff brand maybe even ceramic pads..or "break"in the pads more?ive had her for only 4 wks but clocked up 2700km.how long does it take to "break"in pads?

1000km should be enough, easy. Especially if you do mostly urban driving. Don't know what pads they use though.

It's obviously not the km's that matter, to break in the pads, but how often you brake, and how you brake. Let the pad ease onto the disc, don't try to stand on the brakes at high speeds early on, few laps around the block will be fine, and just be conscious of how you are braking too which will help you learn to brake better anyway by feeling the pads squeezing on.

I've always used a process similar to the above and it worked for me, the trick is just do not stop during the process as that can apply too much heat so a single spot on the rotor.

Personally I cooked my OEM pads on Wakefield, later went to EBC Red Stuff and RDA grooved and dimpled rotors. These were pretty good but would squeel for a few days after a hard run through the Nasho or Mac Pass. Eventually I completely cooked the pads going up Mac Pass. I then put on RDA slotted and QFM A1RM and they were always quite but NVH was pretty bad when the pads are cold (unless maybe the rotors have a bit of run out or something).
