Securing Boot Carpet / Sub

Put a sub in recently, and as a result of having loose carpet and an unsecured sub enclosure, sharp turns cause the sub box to move as it pleases and the carpet to roll up and fold over itself.

Any simple ideas on how to solve?

To stop the sub moving you can get velcro-like stickers that attach to the sub and make it stick to the carpet

What I did for mine is got two jockey straps and hooked them behind the seats. I had a Sony box with the things sticking out of it though so it was simple. But you might be able to do I with yours.

Sub straps, sold at autobarn and any decent audio stores. They're made by Rok straps, screw one end into the side of the Sub box, other end to the car. And they're on clips so they're easy to remove if you want to take them out.

i think i'll give that a go.

Nah, screw straps!

What I did was get some selley's glue from bunnings (forget exactly which type) and glued the carpet to the wooden piece beneath it. The sub already had some velcro under it, so the sub sticks to the carpet and the carpet sticks to the floor.

If you don't glue the carpet the sub will just move with the carpet also

Aware of this. Was considering using screws, didnt even think of glue haha

Just need the time to do it, bloody uni

i bought some $10 mdf board from bunnings and drilled it into the sub box. Cant even notice it. Old picture ive cleaned it up alittle :)

I find this funny as you have spent the time to install wires / cables and components but can't spend an extra 5 minutes to secure them ;)

Being in a sedan / coupe you have plenty of places to bolt or tie off to. Under the metal parcel shelf is where I would put the amp and you would get some steel strapping and run it down to the back of the sub for a hidden type set up OR buy a rear strut brace and tie it off to that :D

I had a *poo*ty peice of masonite in my floor that had moulded itself over the wheel inwhich making it impossible to mount my sub and amp. So for $50 i went down and got Mitre 10 to cut up 4 or 5 peices of ply. screwed it all together and made myself a full floor. Problem being. i didnt use any glue(the bumps pushed the screws out.). or hinges, rendering my spare tyre inaccessable. but thats why i have RACQ! lol. but to secure the carpet i got a staple gun with about 50 staples and went all around into the ply. Can't even notice it! looks brilliant, apart from hitting a bump and hearing my boot floor bounce. but i'll fix that... one day! lol

i have twin box in mine, but i have screwed the back of the box and in the body behind the seats and wrapped 4m wire around the screws, havnt had one problem

i lifted up the carpet and put velcro tabs all over the base and the underside of the carpet (used about 10 dots in total) and the friction of carpet from the sub box and the carpet itself has held it down perfectly and never moved, also means that you can access the spare tyre without having to rip the carpet up and then return it back as you left it
