second hand speedo not working

brand new to the site and looking for help with my 99 glxi sedan that came with a cluster that had no tacho, just a speedo with fuel level and temp. the cars manual so wanted a different cluster with a tacho but after taking the old one out and plugging the new one in, it doesn't respond at all. the only thing responding is the lights.

i really just need some help or solutions to try fix it and any suggestions are very appreciated
 
Is your glxi 1.5 or 1.8? And what car did the cluster come from?

still no progress so anymore help would be great and its a 1999 glxi ce 1.8 sedan
 
Got any pics or details? I do recall in the past clusters being repaired for broken earth lines like this

don't solder onto the line. instead place the end of the wire under the bulb to use the copper connection for the bulb to fix it (completes circuit) and it'll work great
