Thought someone may find this of interest and it may save them a few swear words if attempting this.
Now before others say it's a user error, if i could rebuild by 4G63T in my GSR im sure i can swap out a fuel filter
Ok let's go:
Some people and the bloke in at Burson has advised that these two filters are identical as they're made in the same factory etc. So in theory only the branding should differ right?
Also had two mechanics tell me that Cooper tends to leak in Mitsu and Honda applications due to the shim/gasket for the hard line. Which would make no sense if these two are made in same factory and are identical right??
Packaging.
Body diameter of filters differs (Ryco on left), and machine sealing indentations also differ:
This is the part that makes all the difference, hard line cone fitting seat:
What comes in the baggy with each filter
COOPER = 1 x Copper washer, 1 x paper thin gasket.
RYCO = 2 x Copper washers.
Personally installing Cooper i had no success as the little gasket being so thin failed to seal the hard line connection. After 5 tries fuel kept leaking. As soon as i installed Ryco, sealed up perfect first go.
So there we have it, myth is busted. Filters do differ, and seal differently with Ryco being the easiest to install without issues.
