Hey all just wondering if there is a "how to" on here on how to remove a ECU from a CE ?
i did a search but turned up nothing..

or if theres not can someone give me a quick run down on this?
ive had a quick look and to me it looks like i have to take the hole dash out?
is this right?
is there a quicker way?

thanks again guys

I meant there should be a DIY on removing dash, not ECU. But don't remove the ECU unless you are sure its not working, have you had it tested? You may need to retune it once its removed. Remember to diconnect battery first

whats the worst that could be done if the ecu is removed and not earthed?? burn it out? I would only think something would happen if turned onto accessories or on..

was told recently while having my BMW one tested that they always have power from the battery, for the imoboliser and sensor memory, he said that if you leave it connected that there is a good chance you F it while taking it out, and it may ot of even been broken.

ive had my ECU out and tried it on another lancer at work, put it back in runs fine. although my boss did ask if it ran rough, because it can at times, but you dont need to take your dash out, you just need to get in there and get from memory a couple 10 mm bolts out lol. just use your hand to reach up and feel where they are then get a socket on them. pizzay.

and even if you turn ignition on most cases nothing happens, alot of the *poo* people say will never happen, for eg jump starting off the battery, your supposed to earth it at the block, and leave the leads on to level out the charge or you could harm the ecu. we jump start like 20 cars a day and not one has had any trouble.

you should be fine man.
