Rear wheel balancing?

Hey guys,

Finally getting tyres on some 17s I picked up for a bargain. Im booked in tomorrow morning but one thing the bloke said that weirded me out was that you dont align the rear wheels and that they are going to align fronts only because "in some cars you cannot align the rears". I asked him if he could check and he said that you dont align rears on a lancer.

So Im pretty sure hes having me on but I dont wanna argue until I get some info from people that know more. First time I heard about only front alignment, I always thought it was all round.

Info please as I dont wanna get screwed over on this, a rear alignment is $20 more than only a front. I hate dodgy ass places, unfortnately there is waay to many of em.

Yeah bro he is lieing to you. Go elsewhere and get it done properly, go to an independent tyre store they will do a better job.

this vehicle you have comes with whats called Independant Front and Rear Suspension so the rear as well as the front needs to be aligned. other vehicles that come with leaf springs and a solid diff / axle housing do not require a rear alignment as theres nothing to adjust . also if the rear wheels are no balanced; how can you move these to the fronts when needed.

Yeah I though since the CE has independent rears it would need an alignment. Worst thing is he actually looked under the car and said front only.

Needless to say they lost the sale, went to another place and managed to get the better tyres for the same price plus FULL wheel alignment.

EDIT: Name and shame removed to spare admins headaches

Although you may think they have done you poor buisness you should think about the forum and the admins of this forum before doing any name and shaming. I'm sure Ryan doesn't need the hassel if named company should see it.
