Hi all,
New to this forum but need to post as I've not long brought my daughter a CC Lancer & am now in need of making repairs to the front end.

Anyone got any tips on removing the rack end/inner tie rod from the steering rack without removing the whole rack as there is no room to get a spanner etc onto it.
I am about to go out in search of a specialised tool - which I can find on eBay etc but none of the auto parts stores I have rung seem to know what tool I am talking about
Thanks in advance

Need one like this

Nah got the tie rod end removed - as it was snapped, buit I need to get the rod off the steering rack.
I have found the tools on Ebay, but when I go into auto parts stores looking for one, they look at me as if I'm stupid & looking for a tool that doesn't existm
Might have to look at making one

so if i'm hearing you correctly your trying to pop the rack end off the knuckle? if so i just bash the knuckle at 90 degrees to the direction the bolt runs through it. can take a few whack but it get there in the end. if you trying to remove the rack end from the rack your *poo* outa luck because it's a spanner onto part or the rack and rack end to get it off.

Couldn't be stuff going to the garage, you'll need this to take the rod off.

First you have to take the clip off the rubber boot and undo the other clip at the back and slide the rubber boot out. WD40 will come in handy to slide it off. Once the rubber boot is out you'll see the nut, have a look too see if it has a pin. If it does have one, you need to pry that off.
