Power drop

Hey guys,

I had an interesting occurrence this morning, still the same this afternoon.
When I get to the mid - high rev range I start loosing power, sort of feels like its starving for fuel.
I can feel the rev range going smooth to a point, then it noticeably flattens out or drops.
An RPM gauge would be useful right now, LOL

Anyone experienced something similar ?

I'm going to take it to a mate of mine who's a local mechanic probably tomorrow or Saturday.
But any insights you may have would be appreciated.

Hopefully its just a O2 sensor or a dirty fuel filter or something silly.

Have you disconnected your battery lately? Could be your fuel filter maybe amount other things.

The old disconnect the battery for a while to reset the computer trick?

Yeah try disconnecting the battery for an hour, it will reset the computer and will return to learn mode. Then drive it quite quickly to help it learn how to rev and make power. If not could be a fuel filter or something related.

:wtf:

Fuel filter would be the first thing. Possible it could be the fuel pump on the way out too.
-Any decent mechanic should have a fuel pressure gauge that can be connected for testing

When you disconnect the battery for a prolonged period of time, the ecu is reset and goes into learning mode. Has to learn how to do pretty much everything.

Yes but no... The trick is to let the car idle for at least 10 minutes after connecting the battery back up without touching anything like the gas peddle when you start it or during the ten minutes .
Then turn off your and restart to check idle but will take a days or so to smooth everything out this especially applies yo a 1.5.
But if you haunt disco the battery in recent times i doubt its the problem . Worth a try though i spose .

Well it seems to have worked itself out, Must have been a bit of crap the filter or a bad batch of fuel.
I never got round to my mates workshop, but I'll get him to go over it this week while he takes care of the pink slip.
