hi
im just wondering if anyone would be able to point out where the best place to gain access through the firewall for a 4 gauge power cable for an amp ive been trying to install
i have a 98" mirage Auto
cheers

there are rubber grommets that other cables pass the the fire wall, best to feed it thru one of them
of you can drill your own and add rust resistant paint and your own grommet

i was looking for grommets and form the engine it looks to be on the passenger side under the dash out out of reach and cant seem to spot any others?

the grommet passanger side next to the strut tower is the best option, once its through you gotta get your hand up there and grab it, you'll get it. simple stuff :)

yeh the main wiring harness gromet (big *fudge*er like size of your fist) just poke a hole through that and put your hand up behind the glove box and u can get it through there easy.

I WILL HIGHLY ADVISE YOU TO NOT DRILL YOUR OWN HOLE EVEN IF YOU USE RUST KILL ETC... AS DOING SO WILL REQUIRE AN ENGINEERS CERTIFICATE AS YOUR CAR HAS BEEN MODIFIED AND THEY NEED TO CERTIFY THE STRENGTH OF THE FIREWALL HASNT CHANGED. YES THIS EVEN APPLIES TO HOLES LIKE 2MM WIDE SO BE CAREFUL. AND NO THIS IS NOT A RUMOUR IVE HEARD OR ANYTHING, IT IS THE FACT AND THE LAW.

Yeah don't drill your firewall, that's just ghetto

That grommet the others have mentioned is good, just only make a small hole in the grommet and then force the cable through, should help to minimize the chances of any stray water getting through....

If u pull the carpet back in front of the passengers feet there's a free grommet about the size of a 20cent coin, just push it through and it leaves a nice open hole, I fit 0 gauge through it without a problem so 4 will go through easy. Just an alternative if you don't want to drill through that main one.

no drilling required, just a small hole and force the cable through. and i would not suggest running a cable through a hole without a gromet on it either as it can rub and wear through then short out.

i cut a + in the grommet and any wire will slide through. also, i will always advise against drilling into the firewall. ive seen plenty of times where people have nicked wires and other items and caused dash out issues to rectify them for one small drilled hole lol
