Jap imports

Not sure if this is the right area to talk about this,

However, im interested to see what peoples opinions are on jap imports since they are cheap and the engines are always under 120 thousand due to Japs laws (from what IIRC)

Im thinking about maybe getting an Evo 7 or something, since they can be as low as 5 grand including import.
More or less a discussion on Jap imports as a whole.

Thoughts?

Edit - Found out that it was adverted as a 7 but it must be a Evo 4 from the year.

Most of these are Evo 4's - regardless, still good looking.

hahaa yeah I was gonna say, Evo 4's are heaps nice still, I just prefer the newer shape of the Evo 6/7/8's

Still, even 4k-5k for Evo 4 isnt bad.
 
Evo4 for 5k, plus your looking around 3.5k for complience + rego

So around 9k for a registered low klm evo4

Would it still technically be cheaper to buy that then one from around here? I would assume an evo in Japan would have been thrashed all its life aha.

Thats providing you dont have to pay a tonne for things to be changed for compliance (tyres, oil, disposal, etc etc etc). Slightly cheaper, but you have the risk of never seeing the car before you buy.
 
Probs better off buying one already here, so you can inspect it personally and have it checked out by a trusted mechanic.

Over there, you are taking their word for it.
An odo check is always useful.
What the car is graded at the auction will also be a good indicator.

So was that 5k including the shipping, or 5k plus the shipping? Seems a little on the cheap side, even for a IV.
Compliance, Stamp Duty, Rego, these things will send the cost up. Probably not as much as one already here, but enough to close the gap.
And then you are left with whatever the previous owner/s have done to the car, for the better or worse.

but thats just my 2c.
