looks exactly the same as hens CAI to me... and you can also diy make them fairly easy too

if injen dont sell em in aus go a hens

i think the only difference iv seen with the injen CAI's over others is that 'Injen' is stamped on the side of the pipe for *woo-hoo* appeal, other than that i dont know what the difference would be over a hens one for instance

A cold air intake is a cold air intake, as long as it suits the car and its attached properly etc, they do the same thing ;) Go local and support our sponsors! :D

that CAI unit in above pic looks really nice but the only thing thats had me thinking for some time is; with the alloy pipe , wouldn,t it get rather warm being under bonnet so when cold air from outside comes into this alloy section it would go to warm air . i feel the Silicon Piping would hold out the heat alot better than aluminium. what do you guys think ?

heat wrap it, a full silicone pipe section is far too expensive
it wont get too hot as cold air is cooling it down also, the air will still be ALOT colder than under bonnet temps trust me i has done research ;)
 
Also, have any of you guys got custom cais from an exhaust place and what are your thoughts, I rang liverpool exhaust and they said $350 which I think is ridiculous lol I rang bankstown mufflers before and they quoted 250 I think..

an exhaust place for a CAI? lol i never thought of that, but im assuming thats just the piping,
check out hens performance, ALOT cheaper than $350 lol

Serious dude, listen to everyone's advice. Talk to hens, he does tuned ones for lancers/mirages and is a sponsor on here. why would you ask an exhaust place to do one for as much if not more than someone who specializes in these cars? Plus being in Liverpool he's close to you

+1 for hens, great product, and your supporting a very valuble mirage/lancer parts supplier

exhuast places are going to charge a fair bit and with them you dont know what you will end up with, whereas hens is the real deal full cai and his quality and professionalism is proven

if you want to make up your own cai pipes , just go to an aluminium supply place and get a length of the required diameter and wall thickness such as 3 inch dia x 1/16 wall. have it bent to your desired shape by either an exhaust shop or a home ballistrad place that makes hand ralis etc etc , just need anyone who has a 3 inch mandrel on there pipe bender. i know you can buy the first bend from throttle as in previous pic for about $30 from Autobarn [ silicon 3 inch / 90 degree bend ] then all is needed is a couple of bends in the 3 inch aluminium tube plus a couple of silicon joiners . i wouldn,t go for Stainless Steel Tube as this holds heat alot longer than Aluminium even if it is wrapped.
