I don't understand stance

I think where people are going wrong here is that when people are considering stance they are thinking of extreme examples.
Stance doesnt mean 2" inch of poke ridiculous camber and stretch as can be tyres. Its just filling that guard right up.

Theres flush, then theres hellaflush.
Hellaflush are for those people that dont drive there car.
Then theres hovercraft. Now thats some f*cked up bs.

And citta make an i dont understand rice thread haha ;)

I'm going to make this brief because I'm in a rush.

Rice and stance are both as stupid as one another. Done.

And tbh when I see stances out performance cars, the performance on that car is decreased... And is extremely ricey.

Both are two different ways to make your car perform less, get more attention from police and reinforces the publics image on younger car enthusiast.

There is stance.

There there is stupid stance.

Too low, too much camber. Sure it looks good, but far from practical.

and Stance>Rice.

you'll find that red one isnt like that daily, its just lowered for photos, but that can be driven easily if you have coilovers. no bounce no scrub. everyones saying it decreases performance, when really it does not in most cases.

i drive my car daily, have no issues, and im not even on coilovers.

so for the guys saying all stance is impractical, your wrong.

Id rather have a ricer than a car thats wheels arent even straight! I believe a good looking car is something that has nice wheels (That are straight) lowered, a bodykit that is not too over the top and a nice exhaust. It all flows togethor. This camber s**t just looks like something someone would do to there VN commodore to go with there dump pipe

1.u know race cars have camber?
2. vn commodores dont have camber, they have 20 inch rims with the ass slammed because of fully sick subs.
3. bodykits dont flow nice. ever.
4.they are straight. if they wernt then your talking toe in/toe out.

heres a stanced evo.

according to you, these wheels are not straight, and it doesnt have a bodykit, so it doesnt flow nicely and looks like a vn commodore?

where as i think it looks better than cars such as this.

camber is for performance reasons, so when the car turns into a corner weight transfers with the direction of momentum and the tyre stays in contact with the ground.
too much camber can look ridiculous but small amounts of negative camber to fit wide rims under guards like on josh's lancer looks awesome and is far from impractical

Show me a vn with a camber rear end?

Does everyone realize that stance really is the evolved form of rice and today's fashion based off the European "cleaned" look and the ever present JDM style.

Rice as we all know is rice inspired cosmetic enhancement. So instead of graphics and fake aero, people adopted the camber and stance of a race car. The Japanese drifters stretched tyres cause it's cheaper. Combine all that with the usual 'one up-manship' that exsists in the automotive industry and you end up where we are today. It's just another faction of the ever growing automotive web. A true car enthusiast would appreciate the work involved in it whether they like it or not. I like stance doesn't mean I ram it down people throats. I also like fat tyre fitment. Yes, you can like more then one thing.

/thread.

Tl;dr? F-ck you, read it. Stance = rice

That white Evo looks really good. But if it's handling is worse than stock, then this is where I don't understand stance.

Camber has to be within reason. I've driven a car with -4.5 or so camber and it was extremely unstable and felt dangerous to drive.

where's it say its handling is worse than stock? stance increases handling especially when cornering. that car with the -4.5 camber probably just needed a wheel alignment or the toe was out, wouldn't be because of the camber.

Stance is a very open to interpretation and what you're trying to achieve with your desired look.
Its not just limited to jap cars either, there's plenty of Hotrods, Muscle cars and more out there that carry the flag too.

As much as the next person may not agree its what they would do, I guarantee there'll be heaps of other people out there that'll love it
And in my experience the haters are significantly less that the masses that come up to you and give you credit.
Problem is, the hurt of someone putting down something you like, often out weighs the praise of the majority.

let's all play nice kiddies....think this might be best closed seeing as its just turning into bashing anyone with a differing opinion
