Heater leaking water

Hi all.

My missus's 98 CE lancer coupe has recently sprung a leak inside somewhere. I know the its the heater of sorts. I did a search and wasn't able to find any similar topics.

Now..the CE lancer. Am I looking for a hose? Or is it the heater core, A plastic white box? Both sides of the footwells are soaked in engine water and coolant. Has anyone got a pic of what I'm meant to be looking for?

There's a sound after the car's been running for a while. A light hissing sound from under the dash, like pressure escaping. I was going to put my money on a busted hose but it sounds more and more like a reservoir tank. Or something.

Any help would be great!

thanks!

i'd say it is your heater core, the constant heating and cooling of the plastic causes it to crack after about 10 yrs or so. i discovered mine in the ce was cracked, bit of a pain in the ass to change.

So its a plastic thing? I googled heater core and it shows it to be a radiator lookin thing...Dont have a picture by any chance?

EDIT: nevermind! I found out where the leak is coming from. :) It was the core behind the dash in the centre. Some chemweld and sealant will fix that straight up!

Thanks for yall help!
