Flaps/vent inside rear CH bumper?

Heyall, fairly new member, just a few posts here and there. Going to make a post on my car and all soon when i get some good pics.

One thing ive been wanting to know is...in an '06 ch, if you take the boots side liners out there are these flappy vents in the inner panel, but i have no idea what they are for. I can hear my sub rattling them from the outside so wondering if i can seal them?

I believe the flaps exist for air ventilation and circulation reasons, I imagine it would have a negative impact on air circulation if you blocked them, and possibly air pressure as well when closing your boot.

You could probably seal them, is it really that bad though?

it would make sense that they open when the boot wooshes closed, to equalise the pressure. But would air flow inside the cars panels that isnt related to the engine or cabin air flow really be of much importance??

and that question is where i'd be making up any response, I fear google may take over better than anything i could make up. you could try covering it with dynamat or whatever and seeing if it has any detrimental impact to anything.

I've taken my boot side liners out but never noticed any "flappy vents"

and your welcome :D

They should be for general ventilation to prevent dampness. I imagine that even if you seal them, the boot will close well because it's a very large space, and air can leak into the cabin under pressure anyway.
