Engine stopped working.

So, the engine won't start. The starter spins the engine but it doesn't start. It coughs a little like it might start.
There's fuel and plenty of it going into the fuel rail. There's NO fuel coming out of the fuel pressure regulator when cranking.

There's spark, reasonably strong.

Do the injectors and the spark timing get their signal from the same place? The crank position sender?

I noticed that the water temperature sender and the water temperature sensor have burned/cooked wires. What would cause that?
I'm not sure yet if other wires in the loom are damaged.

Can anyone help here?

is your engine DOHC or SOHC ? if SOHC mine got the same symptom, then I found the ignition coil is dead,

Are the plugs wet like fuel going in?
Check if the injectors are pulsing with a test light.

That's what I figured it would have to be. At the time I didn't have a light or multimeter to check anything.

Any clues about the temp sensors?

I thought they were all SOHC, this one is.
It has spark, tested by sticking a screwdriver into the cap on the plug lead and holding it near an earth while cranking the engine.

Is there some fuse or fusible link that might have blown when the temp sensors shorted that might be connected to the fuel injectors?

Could be a faulty engine control relay, check the wires that go to your fuel pump to make sure theres power going to them

The fuel pump works so I'm guessing it has voltage.

So 8 fuel pump works then u should be getting fuel from the fpr

Where abouts are u checking on the fpr? On the hose that goes to the fuel filter?

Could it be some kind of immobilizer?

It's got a loudspeaker fitted on the firewall, presumably for an alarm, it might have an immobiliser but I wouldn't know where to look.

It has fuel going into the fuel rail and plenty of it.

Disconnect the hose leaving the FPR and there's nothing coming out. Maybe it needs vacuum to operate?

If the FPR wasn't working the engine would still run, just run rich.
