Dash light and signal light wont go on!

Hi guys, my battery just died today so i went over to K-mart and got myself a new battery. After changing the battery the car worked fine. It can start and everything but the problem i have is that the dash light and signal lights wont work. I may have accidentally pulled out a ground wire (i think) that connects to the power source for the dash and signals while i was changing the battery. I think its the ground wire cause its black with orange dashes along the wire. Anyone know where i can reconnect this or have any idea what happened?

I need to fix it quick cause obviously i can't drive it without signal lights. so this is an EMERGENCY!

Where about is this black and orange wire? near the battery? If its a ground wire, just connect it to ground.

Well the wire is connected to the this movable button thing that's on top of the head light. What i mean by 'movable' is that when u life the bonnet up, the metal button thing comes up and if u close the bonnet it goes down. It was close to the positive side of the battery when i was changing it. might have accidentally tugged it out but i have no idea where to put it back.

Open the fuse box under the bonnet, pull out some fuses and look for continuity in the wire. If it's broken, the fuse is broken. There's another fuse box above the throttle pedal under the dash too.

the fuses for signal light are actually under the drivers side foot well to the right, if i remember correctly, otherwise yeah inside the engine bay on the right top side of the battery

That pin under the bonnett that moves up and down is more then likely part of your alarm system i have one on my car its there so when your alarms on and someone tries to open your bonnet the alarm goes off.
In saying that most after market alarm are fitted directly on the drivers side under the dash where the interior fuse box is so more often then not your alarms power supply is probably feed from there but give the endless possibilities and quality work of the installer its hard to say.
Check all the fuses under the dash near the gas peddle you'll hve to get right down there but you'll see the box all marked up.
I think from memory there is a marking on that box with like a little speedo type picture on it.
Pull the fuse out and hold it up to the light if the metal band that runs threw it is broken your fuse is blown so just get a new one with the same amp number on the top.
Also that wire that you pulled off if you can't get connect it back up your self tape the end of it up really well until you can get some to fix it cause chances are overtime it hits anything metal it'll keep blowing fuses.

Thanks mmc. I found one blown fuse and fixed it. So now my signal lights and dash work however my clock and the lights for my A/C wont light it. I just changed the bulbs to Blue LED bulbs T5s. I'm racking my brain trying to figure it out. Also one of my 30 amp fuses from the fuse box in my bonnet seems to be off. From the picture on the cover it has a window with up and down arrows. dont think thats relevant though. Any ideas why my clock light, cig light, A/C lights wont light up?

Glad it helped because that's the longest post I've ever typed lol. Anyways as far as the other lights go at a guess id say another fuse has blown try looking in the same area as your cluster lights fuse where and check some of the other fuses there.
As for the big one missing with the arrow up and down that would be for power windows but I'm presuming you don't have power windows because they wouldn't be working so don't worry about that one its normal for there to be no fuse or fitting for one in that spot even though the pictures still on the cover.
I might just mention when ever doing any sort of elec work to your car disconnect the battery as it safe guards you from blowing fuses, replacing fuses with the battery on is ok and when you have some experience with elec
stuff there are time when you don't have disco the power but for now its just a good practice to get into.
This post here would be the second longest.

If your speedo cluster lights also aren't coming on along with the others, there's a slight possibility the rheostat switch down where your right knee would be (controls the brightness of your speedo if you don't have led's) is not plugged in/broken or something. I found if you unplug that switch nothing lights up.

Just a possibility

Lol!

I've checked the fuses in the fuse box in the bonnet and the one under the dash. All the fuses look alright. Unfortunately the fuse box under the dash doesnt have a cover. i bought it second hand so could've been lost by the previous owner. Hmm dont feel like bringing it to a mech to check for such a small problem. i'll keep trying.

i dont think it has anything to do with that. My speedo lights are fine and signals are working again. Just my a/c ,cig light and clock arent working.

Not the best pic but here's the cover of the fuse holder on my coupe.

Thanks a lot mmc but I've checked those fuses like 3 times. All the fuses are good. Might actually hafta bring it to a mech eventually
