CH suspension setup

hi everyone, got a question on an idea for shocks/spring setup. At the moment i have BR bc racing coilovers in my lancer but they’re a bit too stiff to justify daily driving so i’m thinking of switching it back close to an oem setup.

Wanted to pair front and rear KYB shocks for the vrx lancer with tein lowering springs for 02-07 ralliart/oz rally u.s lancers. I know i can get these springs on ebay, wondering if anyone has a similar setup?

Going to order some whiteline front control arms to go with the new suspension, but while i’m on a shopping spree I haven’t found much replacements for the rear suspension aside from the swaybar. Would it be easier to just go to pedders for new rear bushings?

why not just order new springs for the BC's with a softer spring rate? then you can dial the dampning to full soft? would be about $300 for new springs

I didn’t know you could order new springs from them, i dont think it’ll give me the result i want. The dampening is already at full soft and still feels pretty stiff. Primary reason i’m wanting the kyb shock/tein spring combo is i want softer suspension than coilovers without having too much bodyroll and keeping a low height

google spring rate. can guarantee you that those tein springs will be half the spring rate (and they might even have a variable rate instead of linear like most coilover springs too) and thats the reason why theyre soft.

but ultimately: upto you. if it was me, id be buying some softer springs or even buying some Swift springs or any other brand that makes springs to suit you coilovers. all you need is overall length, ID, OD and desired spring rate.

Rear bushes you can buy the whiteline poly ones as replacements or genuine. Either option will help. I think there is the odd arm from hardrace

Just a quick update on the kyb+tein suspension, the car feels a little softer on the road, i can still feel bigger bumps and divots on the road but its not as stiff as before, the car still handles really well with the vrx lancer shocks and i think it might be a tiny bit lower than before.

One thing i think i overlooked before was that fact that coilovers have pillow-ball bushings which are harder than rubber, didnt realise that at first so having rubber in the strut mounts helps with ride comfort. Too bad rubber wears out faster lol

Overall i rate this as a good suspension option for having good height and reduced bodyroll without sacrificing too much ride comfort.

Good feedback! Some coilovers are suitable for use with a factory strut top. I had ohlins with ralliart evo rubber strut tops and it was acceptable.

I wouldnt be worries about the tubber wearing out, the pillow ball mounts do also tend to pound out under impacts. On Sydney roads they can wear out reeeaaaal fast
