Alternators

Just looking around at the moment for a new alternator. Has anyone upgraded theres? Whats a good brand? what alternator have you upgraded to?

Currently I have a sound system setup drawing about 1200watts RMS, 2 amps, (600 watt and a 1000 watt RMS mono), ive also bought a new battery.

buy a capacitor

i can see alternators being a massive pain in the arse to change to a larger one

get a 2farad capacitor for your sound system would be the best option.
larger alternator isn't really necessary in most situations
 
ahh ok i might give a capacitor a go.. It's just lately my cars been idling really low and occasionally it stalls. reving between 300 - 500 Rpm's :? even with the new battery. Hopefully the capacitor may help? I'm gonna go see an auto-electrician tommorrow just to be sure.
 
yeah i was looking at optima yellow top batteries and kinetic 1400's just a tad out of my price range atm :(. The auto electrician thinks its my regulator/alternator due to it not charging my battery at all :S. He hooked up a volt meter to the battery and gave my car a few revs and the voltage didnt change.... I'll be looking at around $250.00 for a new alt and reg. I'm not to fussed considering its got around 120,000klms on it.
 
Is there any manual idle speed adjustment in throttle body of the CEs? If so, you might need to adjust it to bump the idle speed upto around 700RPM.

If it wasnt charging the battery it would go flat fairly quickly and you wouldn't be able to start the car. If the car is still cranking over quickly and with ease I would really think the battery is being charged fine.

Ah lol i didnt notice on tapatalk, yer how local (to Penrith NSW) are you man? Drop it off and ill reco yours for cheaper.
