Hello auslancer.com - I mainly signed up because i found tryg's post re: DIY CAI whilst looking up mods :why: and wanted to get some advice on increasing throttle response and torque without blowing a tranny :oops: lol

Firstly, my name is Carl and I live in SE QLD. I have 09 VR Sportback CVT that I inherited, the only thing on it that isn't stock is the spoked mag in the boot becasue pops wasn't going to buy one unless he got a 5th mag. It didn't matter what it was, as long as it wasn't a bloody space saver lol go pops.

Ok, so my bucket list of mods are as follows:-

* tryg's CAI mod
* ralliart big bore snorkel & either a k&n panel, or if it won't throw a CEL... AFE TAKEDA SERIES : RETAIN STAGE-2 PRO DRY S PART # TR-4203P ( main reason being it retains the orig airbox setup)
* alloy crank pully
* exhaust header
* oversize tranny cooler (couldn't find any other than RRM)
* ECU mod coz i don't want it to run rich or like a three legged dog on a frozen lake lol ( again could only find one from RRM that didn't require a dyno)

I was also looking to get all or most of my stuff from aus, prefferably from one place like RPW. Ideally if RPW were in BrisVegas, I would drive in and say "take my money" lol

Thanks for reading,
Carl

For more responsiveness it's the same as any other car. Bigger intake and air filter, ported intake, full exhaust. Next steps are lightened pulleys and flywheel. Better ignition leads. Flash tune. Cams. And 98ron petrol obviously. Not much more you can do NA without major $$$$

hi rigby, thanks for replying, Im a complete lancer/forum n00b. You wouldn't happen to know if the intake off a 2.4 will work on a 2.0?

Not a clue mate. There is a forum called ClubCJ dedicated solely to CJ Lancers that may have that kind of information, we are a bit sparse when it comes to specific CJ knowledge.

Just do the Ralliart snorkel replacement. That other intake if more likely to give you issues with Police if inspected and I doubt for there is much of a gain despite the dearer cost.

As for the alloy crank, research them one you want to buy and make sure no one is reporting any issues. RRM's original one caused peoples crank oil seals to leak and they redesigned it with a steel sleeve in the middle for the connection point to the crank.

In saying that the quality of RRM's earlier stuff for the CJs was quite cruddy and IMO they were using the customers as their guinea pigs. Whether or not that has changed I don't know.

As for a tranny cooler, speak to a local transmission specialist. They should be able to knock up a custom job pretty cheaply.

Thanks for the info Ryan, I'm going with the RA snorkel with K&N filter. I did see somewhere they mentioned that pulley affected 2010+ models, but I think I like the RPW one's design best so far anyway. I was told the tranny cooler isn't that important because I tend change gears manually rather than making the tranny work overtime. I will however look up something local when I get around to it.

thanks again
