4g15 conrod replacement

Just a quick question.
If I replaced a conrod myself, by taking the engine apart and putting a new one in (4g15), would i need to go get it recompressed? Or should it run normally right after I put it back together?

It won't be worth the effort.
You will need to take your head off to take your rod/piston out. Which means already new head gasket + new head bolts.
You need to check the clearances between rod journal and crank, and use the right size bearing + most likely machine or polish the crank and/or the rod.
Anyway I can keep on going with what needs to be done but I think already it just isn't worth it for a 4G15.
If you were going forged internals it'd be a different matter. Then again, why bother on a 4G15...

I assume the poster is considering fixing the one that previously blew up.
Also "recompressing" I assume maybe checking for stretch??

Yea its the same one, been tight on money paying fines still -.-
i got one for skateboarding nofaster than the person walking next to me in the city, and got slapped with a 500 dollar fine
such great luck

anyways thanks spetz, im pretty sure my mechanic offered to replace the engine and do a full service on it, replace old parts etc for only 1 grand,
I'm most likely gonna take him up on that

Depending on your financial situation I would suggest trying to go for a 4G93 if possible
