18mm whiteline rear sway bar snapping mounts

I was wondering if anyone else has had problems with whiteline 18mm rear sway bar on a ch vrx snapping the L shape mounting bracket. Ive just done my 3rd one in 3 years. Im getting a rear strut brace soon which might assist the sway bar somewhat.

That's a bummer man.
Most sway bars mount off sub-frames.
That 1.8mm thick bracket appears quite insubstantial for the task.
Is this a Mitsubishi or Whiteline part?

common problem dude
make a new one from 3mm flat steel
the stock bracket shown.
Whiteline 'did' supply 3mm steel bracket in the past for non VRX models.

Factory swaybar brackets to not have any cross bracing and rely on the presses form to take strength. If you upgrade to whiteline it's advisable to get the mount kit which is 3mm with a cross brace. Like comes in mirage or lancer kits.

Thanks a lot guys. I vaguely remember when ordering it the guy knew it had existing mounts so he only ordered the bar and didnt suggest whiteline mounts. I will attempt to source them but making a stronger 3mm sounds like the way to go if unavailable. Nice to know why they were snapping. Thanks again!

Awesome Trondy, wish I knew about this 6 years ago! Those brackets look pretty easy and cheap to make and way cheaper than whiteline. We have a welding section at work so I will print the photo and take in the old bracket and copy it in 3mm. Thanks to all!

Yeah I saw no ch or vrx listing. Im going to make them with a triangle brace welded on each side of the bracket. Unbreakable! Do you sell a rear strut brace for a CH down there Henry?

LANCER CH '03-07'

*FRONT STRUT BAR (2P) $218
*REAR STRUT BAR (2P) $200
*FRONT LOWER BAR (4P) $248
*REAR LOWER BAR (4P) $248
*REAR SWAY BAR 16MM $339

Ultra racing, go to their site or contact Hens

Apart from the stock Front Strut Bar, did your VRX come with any other bars?

Yeah the VRX has front and rear sway bars +front strut bar standard. The factory front sway bar is great but the rear is 13mm from factory so the 18mm whiteline is the go. The difference in cornering is huge. Apart from adding a rear strut brace I am soon getting both underbody braces from Ultra. Im not so worried about power, handling ability/braking is where its at for me. F/R sway and strut bars, F/R braces, 30mm king springs/KYB struts, RDA discs/QFM pads, Yokohama Advans = FUN!

Does the rear strut brace make a noticeable difference in its own? I have the Whiteline sway bar so just wondering if it's worth it

I would be inclined to think that for a FWD, rear sway bar and strut brace would make a phenomenal difference - improved handling, though I am no expert.
