Speedometer issues (not the cracked circuit on the back)

So i recently got a second hand cluster for my coupe gli, it was originally having the issues on the back circuit with a crack but this was fixed however another crack showed up effecting the lights and i stuffed up and managed to burn part of the circuit with bad wiring :).

This lead to me buying the second hand cluster with white dials and and top speed of 220 not 200 like my original, however when i switched them over the tacho worked (with some jumping) but the speedo did not work... I took the white face from the new one and put it on my old tacho and it works fine now, when doing this i also took apart the speedo to see if there was any obvious damage, there wasn't.

At this point i figured i should just throw in my old cluster (with the new jumpy tacho not that i think it would matter) to double check the speedo works there like it had moments before switching and nope... it does not work anymore either.

Before i go searching around the wires in the dash that is full of an aftermarket alarm system that speaks Chinese to me if i dont lock my car fast enough, i was hoping to see if this has happened to anyone before or the best things to check in what order.

I checked the fuse and the previous owner had a 25amp fuse in the speedo fuse when the box says its a 10amp. So i put in a 10 amp but have not tried the cluster yet as bonnet is off for repainting and its all covered up. Im thinking part of the reason the fire hapened orginally is due to the large fuse.

Would it be a waste to change the speed sensor since my speedo worked minutes before and iv never had issues with my speedo before other than the crack in the back. I assume changing the fuse wouldnt fix it just prevent more possible damage right?

Currently im thinking its a burnt out wire somewhere due to the fuse but i got no idea really :D so if anyone has some input id love it!

P.S my car came fitted with the tacho version and i drive a manual car 1.5l and even with the burnt circuit that i cleaned up but lost my backlighting everything was working fine, i had originally wanted to just use the circuit on my cluster but the white dials won me over and now im up *poo*s creek. Sorry for long post just wanted to give as much info as i could.
 
Update: Never mind me once i moved my car out of the back yard and was able to drive for more than 10 meters they both appear to be working.
