Hi everyone, I've got a 2002 CG vrx that needs new shocks front and rear just wondering if anyone could recommend me something that feels the same or close to the stock vrx suspension.

If there is something more stiff thats fine to.

thanks in advance,

also i'm new here so hi :)

Hi and welcome to the forum, you should fine plenty of help/advice here !

The CG basically takes the same suspension as the CH but for a couple of variances in the front struts. Do you know if your front struts in your CG VRX are the 160mm OD or the 180mm OD springs/saddles?

The genuine factory units for the CG VRX are made by Kayaba Industry Co in Japan (or just KYB for short), the shocks front and rear for the VRX are the same ones fitted to the ES/lS/Exceed CG's as well, the only difference is that the VRX are a slightly higher rated load spring that standard.
They also make a Firmer option strut for the CG that you might be interested in, but that depends if your spring's OD if its the 160 or 180mm?

Thanks wagonmaster, that information you gave was really helpful. I decided on the kyb shocks based on the information you gave me now I just have to measure the size and order them :)

No problem, just remember the KYB #334369 (180mm OD) is what is the "very firm option" if you want good handling its a good choice but it has a rough ride, repco has them on clearance for $72 each plus GST, but you will sacrifice ride quality for handling.

Oh wow that is cheap ill have to see if they have any left ><. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge really appreciate it. Ill probably go with the 160mm since its only my daily car unless it already had the 180mm on it.

The KYB #334369 very firm option only comes in the 180mm, not 160mm OD, if its your daily driver just stick to the "standard sruts/shocks" in 160mm OD & 180mm OD as you may find the #334369's way too firm for a daily driver.

Turns out it had 180mm on the front so thats what i replaced it with. Its not as bad as i thought it would be seems fine for daily driving.

So what did you end up using, the very firm option #334369's or the standard es/vrx ones #334490 ones?
