Will CE engine fit CA mounts ?

I am thinking of buying a 4g15 engine and reconditioning it for my - wait for it - 1989 CA 8 valve Lancer SE.
I am wondering if the 12 valve will fit.
As I have never done this before I would also like to know.... is it too complicated to recon. As in;
do I need to rebore the cylander and valves
where would be the best place to purchase new oversize pistons
head planing etc.
I am looking at this as an exercise to learn about motors.
I'm not young anymore so this will be a fun thing for me to undertake.
Thanks for all replies.
I'm new to this site by the way and eager to learn,

Just straight off the top of my head no.
Why? Because the engines flipped in orientation when the CE's started being made.
Does this mean it can't be done? No, you can re do all the mounts in the engine bay, but this is a big job etc etc.
So this means your gearbox mount is on the drivers side not passenger and that the side engine mount is on the passenger side not drivers side... Anyway, gl. You could almost be better off buying a 2nd hand CE GLi for the price that recon and trying to make a ce engine fit. Food for thought ;)

Thank you Skippy. I appreciate the reply.
Maybe just garage mine and just recon the engine.

Best of best wishes.

the CA engine orientation may lend itself to a CC lancer engine though being that they are the same orientation
but i could not tell you if it had been done before, however judging by the CA engine pictures i have googled up it should be
no troubles and a fairly direct swap (should you choose to replace rather than rebuild)

rebuilding an engine is a bit of a challenge, and from what i have seen from friends that have even had their motors rebuilt professionally,
it can be hit and miss with how reliable and well running the motor is afterwards
it would be more ideal in my opinion to swap it out for another of the same motor with less k's on it or in better condition

Proton Satria 1.5 will work, so will the satrias 1.6

You could also throw a proton gti/m21 1.8 dohc engine in there to give it that extra grunt

Or you can throw a gallant 2.0 dohc n/a in there easy but you will need to engineer the conversion

Wow ! thank you all very much for this information.
I'm getting all excited about the grease build up under my nails already.
Gloves I suppose would be the best when rebuilding an engine.
thank you once again.

bleh weak grease under you nails is part of the fun right now my nails are so black it's not funny. just droped a 1.5l out of a gl coupe in 40mins droped the whole thing on the floor and thought best way to get it out from under the car. tie it to the back of another and drag it!
