where did you ground your head unit?

Yeah you should never get that's when your speakers are running through your headunit.

The amp inside the headunit is like nothing!!

yeah i know.....i've heard it can happen for various reasons though. One of whcih is a dodgy amp/HU. I'll try the filter, if it still doesn't work then i give up.

It's a cheap doubledin chinese unit, was like $300 with GPS :). Decent enough sound qual aside from the whine. Thing is, I installed one for me and one for a mate....I was lazy with his, quick dodgy job and he's got no issues...in his *poo*ty daewoo lol.

Another option is to have this HU output the sound via rcas and amp all the speakers....but who can be bothered.

Ahhhh cheapie chinese, well there's the problem! Probably poor quality power filtering circuitry and/or dodgey grounds in it.

I'm not really sure of anything you can do that I can say will definitely work unfortunately.

yeah, have no one to blame but myself. Wanted bluetooth and gps inbuilt cheap:p.

As i said though, my mates got the exact same unit and has no engine whine. There's a jaycar next to my uni so i'll head down there shortly n get myself a filter...

me too, it was so frustrating. everytime someone rang me the head unit would switch into bluetooth mode...since its alot fainter than music and still at the same volume the engine noise was really obvious, drove me nuts. Sounded like i was driving an electric car lol(or what i assume one would sound like).

So glad its fixed, just waiting on a new gps antenna(broke the old one) and my audios all done.
