Upgrades For My Lancer

Just like every standard P plater, i wanna put upgrades in to my lancer.
I currently own a 2006 ES 2.4L sedan lancer, i was wondering what modification i could do to my car. 1st modification i've done to it, is that i've replaced the Muffler with a big stupid ass cannon (its really good to hear the Mivec engine). I kinda want more power??? i think? i know that i wanna put an induction kit/ replace the air filter but im not sure what to put on? meaning i dont know what air filter to upgrade to? i dont know what else to upgrade, part from the Exhaust, air filter and fuel line. I wanna do engine modification before i start putting on cosmetic modification.

Hey mate,

I'd recommend a quality drop in panel filter replacement. My personal choice at the moment is BMC Filters. If you want to change to an exposed type filter line a pod/cone for a bit of extra noise, you will need an aftermarket intake kit. The airflow meter is bolted to the original airbox and you will need a new pipe to bolt it into if you remove the factory airbox.

An aftermarket exhaust manifold will go a long way too. The factory exhaust manifold has a catalytic converter in it which is restrictive.

If you've still got money to spend, a mild camshaft suits a 4g69 very well.

If you combine a new airfilter, exhaust manifold and cam with a dyno tune or even a flash tune, you'll get the most out of your mods. Of course you can tune it at any stage and make gains, but I don't see much point tuning it for each step of the way if you intend to go further.

I strongly recommend atleast the VRX strut bar and sway bars if you don't have them already and a good set of tyres with your performance upgrades. A quality set of brake pads and discs are never a bad idea either.

Good luck with it, post up some pictures in a ride thread and keep us posted!

Any recommended After market intake kit? or and aftermarket parts? Im still newbie on upgrading parts, not sure what brand or what to look for in parts.

And why the VRX strut bar and sway bars? why that specific version? i know that the stock standard supension and handling are shiet but why the VRX? also is it woth also upgrading the coilovers as well?

I'm sure LLT or similar can make you an intake kit or there may be a few online already if you search up "4g69 CH Cold air intake". If you're in Sydney I may even be able to help you make one yourself.

I mentioned the VRX stuff because they are usually cheap and easy to get a hold of being "stock" parts. You probably already have a rear sway bar if your CH is a late model. Whiteline make an upgraded sway bar for the rear which I have on my car and it's excellent. I think however most whiteline parts are no longer in production for the CH.

For aftermarket parts there are companies like SuperPro, Whiteline, SparesBox, Bursons, Repco, Supercheap, CMA who have websites that will filter parts specifically for your car.

Coil-overs are good, I've got a set of BC Golds in my car, but you need to know what you want out of your car when you look at mods like this. It makes the ride very stiff and harsh. It does make the driving experience much better while cornering and even braking/accelerating, but honestly I spend 80% of my time cruising or crawling in traffic. So whilst the 20% of my driving got made much better, I now spend the majority of my time in discomfort. My missus doesn't like going out in the car now either haha.

You will find also that there is not a huge amount of "off the shelf" parts for a CH Lancer, and if there were, they are no longer in production.

I've done fuel rail, cold air intake, full exhaust, rear sway bar upgrade, coil overs, front strut brace. They go alright the 2.4. Next step for me is cams and a tune. I'm in qld between Brisbane and gold coast, any good places to get a tune? May do brakes at some point as well. Also needing someone who can paint some wheels as I'm not a painter and can't paint lol

Fuel rail i got from RPW don't think they do it anymore as i haven't seen it on their website for a long time. I got 4 to 1 race extractors and 2.5 inch high flow hurricane cat from RPW than had a local exhaust shop finish from the cat with 2.5 inch straight through to a sports baffler muffler which they supplied and fitted

If you want an intake manifold and exhaust manifold look at RPW theyre based in western aus i believe
I'm thinking about the intake manifold as i have a spare 4g69 engine so may send it over when I have spare cash

nice nice how does she sound m8

She sounds meaty and grumbly, loves to growl and despite the factory tune it'll back fire pop and crackle nicely but oh boy is she noisy lol. Will be sending the ecu for a tune later in the year
yewww i wonder what the power increase will be with the higher flow and you're various other mods :hearteyecat:
