Trading Post Rules

Guys, lately the trading post has been getting a bit sloppy with how closely people follow the rules....

As per a suggestion from Michael I have implemented that the forum rules will be now displayed at the top of every page in the Trading Post section and will appear as follows:

Now why do we have these rules you may ask?

a) To protect our members from fly-by-nighters that just rock up overnight and post their wares for sale
b) To ensure that our site remains to be for the benefit of it's members and not just for the financial gain of lurkers

Also I should note that premium members will be exempt from the 2 months and 50 posts rule, the reason being a) I have their details and b) they have financially contributed to the running of the forum.

yeh, i just noticed them too,
awesome idea, surprised it wasnt enforced ages ago

Was wondering what that was all about too!!!

Ryan, as I suggested to you many times before, there has to be something (more) for people to want to be Premium members... this is an excellent start and hopefully more perks to come for those financial members.

quite a few mini chat lurkers only, keep that premium only and you may find a few more people.

Mmm yes that might be a benefit but the downside would be a lot more spam in other threads....

I really don't want to sound less-than-gracious, because you have made a great site Ryan... there are loads of things that you could develop to really make PREMIUM pop... because otherwise it will only be the few who will support the many. My online motorcycle club was free, but out of 280 members the first year, 268 were paid up..

I locked away all the best DIYs, garage function, ability to upload images, limited PM functions (max one per day for non-paying), gave email addys to all paid, ability to view sell/buy areas, access to secret threads (like this), ability to blog and they each had their own webspace/page etc...

By year two (when I coincidentally sold it for a couple of thousand), I had over 500 members and 400+ were paid. We were, though, a business and not a club. I had over $5,000 worth of ready-to-send parts and did lots of GBs etc...

Had integrated website + forum etc...

Sorry if this is hijacking in the wrong thread.

Hope this sparks your imagination...

some very good ideas there tryg
i especially like the hidding DIY's, unable to upload images and hidden trading post.
