The CE really was a poverty piece of *poo*... dont get me wrong the great thing about this car especially the coupe s the shape everything else from factory was average...

As most would know these cars are found all over the world and they got the MR as a standard... getting your hands on a MR to swap interiors and goodies out is near on impossible... solution - buy the wire looms and mechanisim and controls from the U.S shipping is approx $70 AUD parts are about $150 - as for the door cards you use your exsisting cards - yes I know the winder comes out and leaves a dirty big hole - so fill the hole with a tweeterperfect size and great location for it - now you need to make the power window control fit the card easy make a bigger hole using a dremel.

I have not done this yet but I am about to for giggles and see if it really can be that easy... if people are interested let me know on this topic and I will see if my friend in the U.S can sort out parts I know he can get the regulators for $50 each and looms are something like $10 a set

yeah im interested in doing this. i have a lance ce gli 1.8L coupe manual and everything apart from the engine is poverty spec -_-... so i would love to get electric windows for a start then move onto more mr spec things

im keen for some, the wife wants power windows in her coupe now. when i got my setup i got MR door cards, regs, switch boxes and loom for 250, but then needed to pay to get it wired in

No way do you need to pay to get it wired in it is just a plug and play... ok I will start talking to my friend in the U.S and get a set sent over and play around with the final look of it - the hardest thing is getting the doors to look factory finished.. the U.S cars are left hand drive so the main surrounds will have to swap over from left to right but because the door card needs to be cut it will fit and work just as good as the ones herebut the person cutting it out will have to be very careful...

Ummm... question, since it's coming from the USofA and since their LHD, it means that the windows will be reversed, so your automatic window will be the left one not the right one? Unless you want to re-wire the box?

Qld guys just go to abc wreckers in logan Havent been there for ages but there pretty cheap and did have a proton m21 and mr's there a while back.

I think if the wire were just simply swapped to the correct side (reversed)it would not make a difference and as for the switches I think it will be the same fit as you will be cutting out were the surrounds go anyway it should fit nice and neat...

and the regulator is simply mechanical so there should be no problem there

I did recieve a window regulator today and fitted it up - this was a non genuine one it did fit but I did have to trim a little off the top with the dremel to give it a better fit.. I think I have a proble with one of the wire looms that I got from the wreckers the other week as it does not want to work when plugged into the side it is supposed to be on but it works fine on the other side... so I still need to check this out further..

Long time since I updated the problem I had was not from any of the parts that I had from the US but more from me having pressed the window lock (dumbarse) so it is a goer for those wanting to do this - the power windows regulators are brand new on ebay and are not OEM but will fit and work - the wire loom check out ebay again and you should be able to pick it up from the U.S very cheap same as with the door controls all up cost is under $250 delivered

do you think you can do a DIY on how to do it? i can get my hands on the window assy switches and stuff. would be good to convert my POV! thanks!

I'll try and find some of my pictures when I did mine... It's fairly straight forward though tbh.

i put power windows in my sisters CE1 lancer GLXi sedan it didn't have them as standard. what i did was get the dash/floor loom out of a series 2/3 GLXi sedan, the window regs, door looms and trims & switches. it came out of a manual car but hers was an auto so i had to remove the auto bits out of the old loom and add them to the new one as the dash indicators and T bar lighting didn't work.

the easy way to tell if your car has wiring for electric windows is to look at the relay block under the steering wheel. if it has a place for the black relay in the picture then the dash wiring is in place and u just have to pop in the relay. on my sisters car it didn't it i cant remeber if it only had 2 plugs or it was missing all together so i had to swap out the entire dash/floor loom.

thats it, just look up where your pedal are, and they should be fully visible

I know the Mirage's inside fuse/relay box thingy looks exactly like that pic above, but the lancers i think differs slightly? anyone can confirm this?

out of curiosity, what would goes in the other two blank spaces either side of that relay? Or would they just use the same part in different cars so there's blank spaces that would never get used in a CE?

this might sound weird but if someone was able to buy this item could they install it in an other car

or get an auto electrition to install it

anything is possible with enough money.

For power windows, you only need the switches, the wiring in the doors (about a meter long), the motor in the door, and a simple relay (just grab it from the car that had the windows if possible)

That box along wont do anything really, its a holder of sorts for a couple fuses and plugs i believe
