Alright guys n gals
For you today i have a DIY for installing round fog lights for CE lancers and mirages.

I have a 2003 lancer, which will be used for demo.

This is my first DIY write up so please be nice :)

To start, go down to super cheap auto and spend your whole $50, this will get you 2 utility lights, NOT ON SPECIAL for $25 ea.

The part number for SCA is PLU127469

These lights are pretty simple, there is the dome, backing cover/mount, clamp ring and mounting bracket.

I took off the mounting bracket as i will not use it for my install, just undo the 2 12mm bolts through it and remove the bracket.

To open up the assembly, undo the clamp ring by unscrewing the Philips head and 7mm screw and nut, pull the clamp ring off and you can pull the light dome out of the backing.
** note to pull the rubber grommet through from the backing**

These lights come with H3 55w globes pre installed, i changed them to 100w as i will use them as spot/fog lights, this can be done by undoing the small screw with the ground wire attached (doesn't need to be unscrewed all the way), then you can maneuver the old bulb out and the new bulb in. **make note as one side has a semi circle and one side has a rectangle cut out of the globe fitting**

When you have the new bulb in, you can then start making the mounting strips... I used some thin strips of steel about .5mm thick, so they were easy to bend by hand, i cut them to about 15mm by 70mm
but up to you, then use some needle nose pliers to bend them into the groove of the clamp ring.

This is where the install gets a bit tricky and fast paced, sorry if i need to fix it :/
*try to organise all of this in such a fashion that the screw and nut on the clamp ring will face to each other between lights, the passenger side light will have the screw and nut on the driver side of the assembly*
Place all 3 bent up strips in a place easy to grab them, put one strip into the clamp ring and feed it onto the light, as you feed more of the ring onto the light add the other 2 strips in to form a Y shape all up.

Now that all the strips are in the clamp ring, try to maneuver the strips to the correct positions. *easier if you have the blanking plates*
** forgot to take a pic :/ sorry :(

Missing a few pictures here but you get the idea.
Now that the strips are in the clamp ring jump under the car and hold the light in place and take a good long look at where the holes will line up with your strips, also with your free hand try to bend the strips roughly into place. ** note the holes in the bumper do not point straight, so you will have to use the brackets to make the light level and point straight If you mount the lights againt the bumper flush they will point out to the sides and get you pulled over in 2 seconds
once you have an idea of where the holes need to be, bring the light back out and drill some holes.

Now before you go ahead and mount the light, now is a good time to fit some terminals to the lights, instead of screwing around under the car in a tight space, also now is a good time to find the stock wiring if you will use it or route your own.

Now here is my dilema... PLEASE HELP IF YOU KNOW :))
I cut the original plugs off and wired up my lights, i have a fuse and the plug connector in the dash on the right of the steering wheel behind a hole/plug/ thing, but in the fuse/relay box under the bonnet i have no relay or relay holder for the fog lights, it has the fog light symbol in the "g" position on the fuse box but the spot is just empty??? any ideas o_O :?:

After all the above steps are done, if i havent missed anything out you will have fog lights that are ready to be run.
HOWEVER you will need to figure out the wiring and/or switch on your own for now, im waiting on a fog light switch to come up and to find out about this relay spot and what i need, if i dont have anything within a week i will be making all my own setup.

Looks pretty good IMO.

I'll measure up exactly how thick they are but they're perfect mate.... if I reach under the car and use enough force I can change the angle and pitch etc but they haven't moved with bumps or driving yet... takes a bit of effort but all 3 make it quite sturdy

Re: ROUND FOGLIGHTS: install for $50

Nice work,

Do you know what the beam spread is like on those lights?

Re: ROUND FOGLIGHTS: install for $50

I'll take some photos.. mine are excellent.. wired them up midnight last night.... work like spotties :D

Re: ROUND FOGLIGHTS: install for $50

tonight I will draw up a wiring diagram if I remember... for anyone who wants to do it... I am running thick wire for spotties and a simple relay and switch... they are rigged so they can only be turned on when high beam is on (legal)

Re: ROUND FOGLIGHTS: install for $50

so the write up for wiring is as follows;

this is the basic wiring setup i used, although i didnt think properly at first and stuffed it up
52335_4467082569066_1546139579_o.jpg

hope you can read it or view it properly :)
the high beam wire is RED/white trace

also i bought this relay for like $8 to run the positive switching

i used a switch that has... err... well... HAD a light in it, but i blew it up cos i didnt ask what amps the LED takes, lol ohwell
anyways the power to the switch can be permanent 12V+ or you can just tap into the wire you use for the switch power in, in my case the high beam red/wh wire
