Got a weird little query I'm figuring out with my reverse lights they don't always come on when I'm in reverse. Sometimes they flicker very briefly or it can take several goes putting it in to reverse or even just sort of poking it in and out of reverse slowly and within a very small margin as it flickers and keep doing that and putting it fully into gear until they remain on. What can cause this intermittent thing to happen. It's a manual and I do have LED's in the tail lights if that matters however generally don't tend to have an issue with LED's but wanted to provide as much information as possible and explain it as best as I can

I'll suss it out while the car is off the road for the week while i send off my ecu

check earth on taillight assembly , sometimes dry solder joint on led circuit board can cause it, but like GroceryGetter 2.4 suggested, start with contact adj or rev switch itself.

I've just pulled the reverse switch out and gave it a clean and replugged it in and made sure it clicked on and is firm on it. Was mainly the plugs that were dirty. I did pull the tail lights out earlier and all that seemed ok so i spent the evening with the switch itself and about to reconnect the battery to see if it works. Taking time to fix a few things and tidy the car up a bit while i don't have my ecu for the time being and my spare ecu won't start the car but lucky my dad is letting me use his car for now

Small update. After cleaning the contacts it improved for a bit than went back to being no good would rarely work and turn themselves off so today grabbed a new reverse light switch and they come on straight away now :) I feel safer knowing my reverse lights work properly

Real easy, just a deep socket and an extension. It’ll drop right over the switch, and you unbolt it like a regular nut or bolt. Be careful not to over tighten the new one
