Remote locking/unlocking

G'day all. This started around six months back, press remote, nothing. Will lock all, with key in driver's door. I also find if I reinsert the key, turn it to start (lights) then to off, the locking system will work, off the fob. This happens with both keys, and the batteries are around 12 months old. I have a newer key blade, with original electronics. Any ideas, please?

Hey mate, what year model lancer do you have and what engine?

The batteries are about $5 each, I’d be throwing new batteries in as a first step.

what you’d check from here, is with a frequency measuring device, check to see if the remote is emitting a signal.

the remotes are prone to failure as they break easily. Once even slightly cracked you can get dirt and water in them and they might not fail for a while.
 
Thanks Mate, appreciate it, will try new remote batts. 2007, CH ES with 2.4, owned from new. My Mechanic, not Mrs Bishi, has advised to keep it as long as I can, due to the quality of these vehs, and while I hate front wheel drive, shows my age here, best car I have owned. The only other "lecky" problem I have had, is strange messages from the radio and fuel gauge showing empty when full. A battery disconnect has sorted these, thus far. :) Have the codes brain imprinted for re-connect. :) As you say that, I had reverse sensors included as sale condition. Now they "beep" at at all times in reverse, like to get them out for a clean down.
