Hi,

I have a 2007 CH Lancer ES sedan stock standard. After heavy rain .... car sitting still ..... the drivers side floor is soaked :( . Driving in the rain does not seem to be an issue. The car is original so windsceen etc. are as-built. Even so , is the windsceen the likely cause ?

Cheers

Um hi, no intro?
It might be your door seal.
If it was the window you should be able to test it by running buckets of water over it to find the leak.

Welcome to Auslancer.

I would attend to this by drying out your car initially and then lifting the carpet. Be inside when someone sprays water onto the car using a hose and then just watch the floor line for the water runs... trace back and fix.

Good luck.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions .... much appreciated. Today I found the cause. A large rubber grommet on the side wall which has the hood release cable and some electrical cable passing through it was totally dislodged. Most of the water that drains down through the grill at the base of the windscreen was simply running directly into the gaping hole!

Pushed the grommet into place and no more leaks :D . Problem now is drying out the floor as the water has completely soaked front and back. Removed the drivers seat and drivers side trim front and back. Lifted carpet and sponged out at least 2 litres of water. The felt underlay was soaked and after 1 day drying is still wet, wet, wet. With the carpet still lifted by timber strips have now got the blow out heater on it and I think it will still take several days before all is dry enough to re-install.

Get some moisture absorbent pallets, sortof like kitty litter, but is super dry and absorbs a lot of moisture, just spread it on the floor and carpet of your car.

You'd close your car up... otherwise moisture in the air will just be absorbed instead....

try getting a wet'n'dry vac and sucking the moisture up. No water, and clean car. Two birds, one stone
