Hey,

I would like to know what people have done engine wise to there CJ lancer.

Mine is still stock no changes will get a pic up soon.

cheers

I dont know of anyone but i start with basics i.e intake and exhaust

After that things start getting a little expensive i.e cams headwork etc

Have a read of the rpw modification guide on the CJ for the best advice

Apart from an exhaust setup, an intake (i suggest the RA duct) and a basic ECU reflash (speak to Adrian he has the OpenPort 2 cable up in QLD), any other engine work is going to be too expensive compared to what it will gain for you.

I would instead recommend looking at improving the handling of the car:
*Coilovers or lowering springs
*Better tyres/rims
*Strut tower and suspension bracing
*Bigger anti-roll/sway bars
*Better brake pads and discs

You'll find that improving the handling of the car will give you much greater gains through bendy roads than the small increases of power that are only possible with the CJ.

Thanks Ryan,

Sounds good I will speak with Adrian in regards to the ECU reflash.

I do a lot of highway driving and the roads aren't nice to lowered cars as I found with my last car. I will def change my rims and tyres. When i do ill have a set of VRX rims for sale.

have you had the handling improvements done?

Yeah I have coilovers, 17*7.5" rims with 235/45R17 Bridgestone Adrenalin tyres, RDA grooved and dimpled front rotors with EBC Red Stuff pads and UltraRacing suspension bracing in the rear of my car. Coilovers make by far the biggest difference, I noticed that I went from always getting lots of understeer when cornering hard, to the car now holding very well through corners, at times I can even if I try induce some oversteer in the rear... You can choose what height the coilovers sit at so a 30-40mm drop from stock height will be ok on highways and crappy roads. To date I've only found one or two speed humps I marginally scrape on and haven't had any dramas on the highways or average unsealed roads around here....

If you cant afford better rims then just wait until your tyres wear out and get something like a kumho KU31, they are pretty cheap even in the 215/45R18 size, but they have much better grip than stock Yokos plus are alot quieter.

your car is front wheel drive aye Ryan?

I find I under-steer a lot could be the driving though I do get into race mode far to often lol

Yeah mine is a VRX, hence FWD.

Coilovers and better tyres will help out with that greatly, true me!
